Dog attacked my husband! Feeling very cross about irresponsible owner

My husband takes a regular walk around the local park and fields and today he came home with some face bleeding.
What had transpired was that a regular dog walker had let her dog off the lead - which bounded up to my H and jumped up at him. In the process drew blood from 4 places - 1 claw clipped the inside of his nostril, and three sites around the nose and cheek. He naturally was in a state of mild shock. I asked what the owner's reaction had been. He responded he sees her and that dog regularly and the dog always makes a beeline for him and jumps at him. The owner laughed it off apparently saying, " oh he always goes for you".
I feel so angry and upset - how dare she have such a cavalier attitude and not keep her out of control mutt on a lead? I feel inclined to accompany my H on his next walk and give her a piece of my mind if I see her. I have just had to get this off my chest.

Plots twist, husband and dog owner were having an affair. Woman viciously attacked husband when he ended it. Poor ,oblivious chihuahua gets blamed and turned into a massive , enraged mongrel beast.

Brilliant!!

So to the dog owners on here, if you could see someone disliked your dog interacting with them, wouldn't you keep your dog away? Yes! I also keep note of which dogs don't take too kindly to bouncy puppies and keep mine away from them. He will learn, eventually. But there's no need to piss people off in the mean time.

I even put him back on the lead in the free walking area when other people have their dog reactive dogs off lead. Why I should have to I do not know, but as I don't want my puppy hurt I curtail his freedom, his socialisation, so shite owners don't have to think!

That’s the problem though. Shite owners.
The runner who was barked at and chased. And the dog owners blamed her for running in the dog part of the park. Erm no. Dogs allowed. Not dogs own it.
The owners who stood by and let their nervous dog circle someone barking. Did nothing. Poor person was terrified. They didn’t intervene.
I am very mindful that people may find my dog scary. She’s big. And some people are bloody scared of dogs. Let alone big dogs.
It’s my responsibility to ensure she isn’t a bloody menace and bothers no one. (Poor kid hiding behind her dad yesterday. Really scared. I stopped and said my dog was on a lead. Wouldn’t come near her. And was a great big baby daft dog too! Reassured kid and everyone happy. It doesn’t take much. Just being mindful instead of thoughtless.

Dogs should be kept under control AT ALL TIMES in public, of course she's upset, her husband came home bleeding, accident or no accident it was preventable by doing the right and legal fucking thing and using a lead! Not so funny if it was one of your kids is it. What the fuck !?

Comefromaway · 28/05/2019 23:36

And the dog owner today who let their dog attack my dh’s blind friend’s guide dog - shite owners.

Wolfiefan · 28/05/2019 23:37

Bloody hell thats awful. Hope the guide dog and owner ok. Shites like that give decent dog owners a bad name. Sad

Comefromaway · 28/05/2019 23:39

I don’t have details. Dh just told me about it but it made me think of this thread and just how entitled some dog owners are.

Wolfiefan · 28/05/2019 23:47

Some are. But then some people are awful. And dog owners are just people.
Wish there was a decent system for licences. Sad

Comefromaway · 28/05/2019 23:50

I’m a dog owner myself as I said upthread. But my dog (who has rubbish recall and likes to hump anything that moves) is ALWAYS on a lead in public places.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 29/05/2019 06:54

That’s the problem though. Shite owners. Yes! And is what most sensible posters have been saying from the start Smile

We are the ones who get it wrong if our dogs do anything to upset someone else. We are the ones the law seeks to fine, punish, mostly. And that's right, I think.

I've had a few kids want tp pet my little monster. It's hard to say no, don't want to make them think all dogs are horrid, but he is so wriggly and determined to play. So I have to hug him, treat him, and let them pet him with him in a death grip, whilst explaining that he is only little and REALLY wants to play, but is very bouncy.

Comefromaway bloody hell. That's nasty. I hope it got reported. It carries quite a hefty penalty

Nesssie · 29/05/2019 14:34

Comefromaway Attacking an assistance dog is an offence under Sec 3 of the DDA. An aggravated offence which could result in a fine or even a custodial sentence. Would probably be treated more severely than the 'attack' on the OPs husband

Comefromaway · 29/05/2019 17:20

I’m sure she reported it but I guess it’s down to whether there were witnesses etc or whether the owner scarpered.

She was in the local paper not too long ago about being refused entrance to a local leisure centre (taking her young son to a lesson) so she is the kind of person who stands up for her rights.
