Are the Silentnight hippo/duck lesbians?

Our new bedding arrived yesterday and the DC were asking me about the hippo and duck logo and I was explaining about the old advert/branding etc.
Looking at the logo the DC decided that as both the hippo and the duck have long eyelashes they are both female. I told them that anyone can have long eyelashes, but they were much more comfortable with the idea that they are inter species lesbian couple than that a male could have such good lashes!
What are your thoughts?
Also why do kids need to know this kind of stuff??

The duck (or canary) is female and the hippo is male- or so they appear. I have a very slight, petite auntie married to a much bigger uncle so I think even as a kid I got the point they were trying to convey via the animals. The mechanics of duck-hippo loving, in retrospect though are a bit horrifying. I also block out DMs comments about silent night hippo re chunky monkey ex bf and his effects on her pull out bed.

That's definitely a male hypo, not sure what the size of his eyelashes has to do with anything.

The duck is a bit more of a puzzle.

The hippo is a male - he actually hasn't got any eyelashes in the pic just tufts of hair on his head.
The duck is female.

I agree with PP that the duck is in fact a prepubescent duckling so I think the hippo is a criminal.

The hippo is definitely male, is the duck female? I've never really thought of them as a couple, just friends.
I had a cuddly hippo when I was younger, it was one that you stuck on the window. I loved it.
