I don't care really, but is this who we want running our country?

We all know he's a buffoon, but the papers wouldn't be running this unless it was true.
He's divorced. I get that. But what sort of an idiot is it that needs a woman to perform?

His Tory-ness alone repulses me, without all his additional features. Seeing as though we've no choice but to have a Conservative PM at the moment and TM really was the best of a bad bunch, I'd like to see Sajid Javid or Ruth Davidson in charge. Purely on the basis of having a Muslim or a lesbian representing the UK.

Overmaars · 26/05/2019 01:04

Graphista has it exactly right. People who went to school with him say how this is just a persona he's crafted and how he really has a nasty, manipulative and scheming streak.

All this article proves is that he will humiliate the woman closest to him multiple times. As he did to his first wife. How much less will he think of the poor and vulnerable.

He's shown what he thinks of people not of his background. For example, calling African people piccaninnies. He blamed Liverpool fans for Hillsborough. He erroneously said that the British-Iranian woman detained in Iran, Nazanin Zaghari- Ratcliffe had been training journalists in Iran when she had actually been on holiday. This was extremely dangerous for her.

Then there was the term tank-topped bumboys to describe gay people.

He really is a product of a class with a very narrow world view and a very poor understanding of complexity and nuance. He does not feel he should apologise for his behaviour because he genuinely feels entitled to hold the views he has.

I cannot understand why people think he would make a good PM. He was a terrible mayor of London, who delegated all the heavy lifting to colleagues while spending his time planning for his political rehabilitation and earning money from his other commercial interests, such as his journalism. He has very little respect for others outside of his narrow social circle, so how will he deal with diverse world leaders? How will he empathise with the vulnerable? How will he conduct difficult and complex arrangements with the EU.

We have such a disappointing pool of potential leaders to choose from at the moment but BJ is definitely near the bottom of the pile.

Boris didn't call after a ONS OP?!

There's not wanting him as PM , then there's wrath of a woman scorned

AndTheEnd · 26/05/2019 01:12

But he''ll get voted in for some reason. Baffles me.

🤣😂🤣

I don't think overweight or obesity are relevant.

Have carbs and an aspirin and take a pint of water to bed OP.

ilovesooty · 26/05/2019 02:02

OP I think your posts sound highly peculiar quite frankly.

I don't give a flying fuck about his sex life. His laziness, xenophobia, mendacity, and utter self absorbtion make him unfit for service.

Graphista · 26/05/2019 02:36

Not a right winger?! Do you know what right wing means?

Here's his voting record for starters:

https://www.theyworkforyou.com/mp/10999/borisjohnson/uxbridgeeandsouthhruislip/votes

Then all the racist and xenophobic comments, barely disguised homophobia and snobbery and his ivory tower perspectives...

Songsofexperience · 26/05/2019 08:49

I couldn't care less about his appearance. Even if he was Jabba the Hutt's very own twin I could support him if he had the right track record, but he is the man who thinks telling the EU to 'go whistle' is the best diplomatic approach. There is no hope of a good outcome for brexit with such a guy.
All he cares about is his own position, not the nhs, housing, crime or climate change. People like him want the smallest possible state (ie privatise everything). Do you want cutting edge medecine to be only accessible to the rich? To know you're ill and treatment exists but the nhs can't afford it and lets you die? If that's ok with you then Boris and the rest of the 'hard leavers' gang are your bag.

Genevieva · 26/05/2019 09:14

I didn't say not right-wing. I said not staunch right-wing. He has fairly middle-ground Conservative party values. Voting records give limited insight because the parliamentary process involves whipping. There is no evidence in that voting record that he is an extreme right-winger. Nevertheless, I think we both agree that Boris is not great PM material.

SophieLMumsnet · 26/05/2019 09:17

Hi all,

Not sure about the OP here, so we're taking this one down.

bellabasset · 26/05/2019 09:34

I think that he has a lot of charisma but he isn't careful enough. He's has a high IQ but doesn't really do detail.

Look at the garden bridge, one of the first things Khan did on becoming Mayor was to get rid of the water canons.

Remember when the lower rate of tax on PAYE was scrapped by Gordon Brown, it was there to give employees a benefit towards costs of travel etc. scrapping it meant that the personal allowances were increased. As for Nazanin Zaghari Ratcliffe that was a terrible error, I doubt it would have made any difference to her treatment but it certainly gave Iran an opportunity to say their claim against her was verified. So if it comes down to a contest between Hunt and Johnson I would vote Hunt

CoolCarrie · 26/05/2019 10:53

Hunt is a cunt as well!

CoolCarrie · 26/05/2019 10:55

Tobias Ellwood is the only decent Tory I can think off

CoolCarrie · 26/05/2019 10:55

Of!

Songsofexperience · 26/05/2019 11:06

He has a high IQ
Being able to quote classics in Latin is not an indication of intelligence. He may be well read, that's not the same thing.

Heratnumber7 · 26/05/2019 11:24

But England will vote him in....

This annoys me more than anything BoJo could say or do.

"England" won't be voting anyone in. He will be prime minister of the United Kingdom.

It's about time the English realised they aren't the only people who inhabit these islands.

MyOtherProfile · 26/05/2019 18:28

Slowly Grin

firstimemamma · 26/05/2019 18:30

I can't stand him, but I find the thought of Gove as PM even more terrifying!
