i'm sure stacey is a lovely person but i can't stand the twee advert on the radio gushing about the first holiday to butlins.
never been to butlins but that's not the thing, it's the twee-ness of it.
anyone else have ads they dislike?
i can't stand the AA one with the kid singing in the back and looking cute on first viewing but now makes me want to throw a brick through the screen.

I'm not sure you even get a pen just for enquiring any more. If that's not austerity writ large I don't know what is.

JemimaCuddleMuck · 26/05/2019 06:02

Whichever toothbrush ad that says it was "inspired by dentists". So they sat and thought about dentists while designing a toothbrush?! Not teeth, or dentists recommendations, just dentists?

BeardieWeirdies · 26/05/2019 06:27

The one where Idris Elba is possessed by some demon child singing que sera sera. Argh! What were they thinking?

Onetraumaatatimeplease · 26/05/2019 06:34

I can't stand that Pantene one with Ellie Goulding I think "I train my hair strong". No you don't.
Also that Sanpro one where the lady is cycling round a village in teeny tiny beige shorts, wouldn't happen, ever.

Shutuptodd · 26/05/2019 06:51

Those bloody meerkats drive me mad. I don't think this was helped by their ad being played over and over on a catch up channel I was watching last night.

wertuio · 26/05/2019 07:04

We almost never watch tv with adverts as it is broadcast.
Using the various catch-up sites and the record facility on our TiVo means that we can fast forward through all the ads.
When binge-watching it also makes it possible to watch three episodes in the time it would have taken to watch two.

SerenDippitty · 26/05/2019 07:31

I have a memory of an ad from the 80s. Car advert, a posh couple have just dropped their son off at boarding school. As they drive home in their gleaming car he tells her he’s “going it alone” and that various people in the company are joining him. Instead of being outraged that he has made this momentous decision without mentioning it to her, the silly cow breathes “oh that’s wonderful” as they crunch on to the gravel in front of their beautiful home which has all the windows lit up. Anyone remember that one?

Dana28 · 26/05/2019 10:00

I can't stand the precocious mc girl in Robinson fruit creations ad, I think it was entitled 'listen up'. They have released a new one with an equally obnoxious beat wearing fairy wings telling a black man he needs to get out more

Surely there isn't anyone in the world who doesn't do that, in he days of the video recorder you could also watch slightly speeded up if you were really short on time Smile

Ronsters · 26/05/2019 10:25

I cant remember the car/posh couple, but there was a Peugeot ad in the 80s with a fairly smug/posh couple. They seemed to having a steamy "rendezvous" in their nice new car and it turned out they were married. They did a few ads so maybe this was one of their scenarios?
I used to like the skeleton doing the video tape (Toshiba?), ads.

francienolan · 26/05/2019 10:31

I don't like the money supermarket ads with skeletor. I just don't get it!!!! Is he evil for being sooooo money supermarket? Or what??

Sassifrass · 26/05/2019 10:35

‘Bladder protection pants which are actually PRETTAY!’

Raffles1981 · 26/05/2019 15:24

‘Bladder protection pants which are actually PRETTAY!’

Yep, she can fuck right off. The new Apple Mac ad, with singers (Bowie is in there) and the poem - "I Overstand" it's not a word!!
The Jet2 with Jess Glynne singing over it. Always mute that one.

I remember that one! Also remember being shocked when it was shown in the middle of Pet Rescue, a teatime family show on Channel 4. Thought it was most inappropriate.

notacooldad · 26/05/2019 15:37

stacey solomon thanks for that one folks,
also most car adverts and those stupid skylar [?] yogurt

Ok, we've established that it is Stacey Solomon in the ads. The yogurt is Skyr!
Maybe you should use Google more!😁😁

MissCharleyP · 26/05/2019 15:44

Ronsters The skeleton one was for Scotch video tape, “Re-record, not fade away!”

For me it’s any cosmetic (make up/shampoo/hair dye) with ‘celebs’. Like yeah, I’m sure Cheryl uses L’Oreal foundation (there was a story in a magazine about how she was glad of the stick/roller foundation as she was applying her makeup in the back of a limo going to an event. Course you were love) and Holly Willoughby dyes her hair at home with Garnier. Sure.

ShinyPinkLipgloss · 26/05/2019 15:52

Actually @misscharleyp have you looked closely at Holly’s hair? I 100% believe she does dye it at home with a cheap box colour. It looks shocking!

ShinyPinkLipgloss · 26/05/2019 15:54

I just googled and it appears my suspicions are not unfounded.....

www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.hellomagazine.com/healthandbeauty/hair/2018082261497/does-holly-willoughby-use-garnier-for-blonde-hair/%3fviewas=amp

MissCharleyP · 26/05/2019 16:00

Fair enough, I stand corrected! She must have more patience than me. I CBA with the faffing of rinsing and all that. In fact, I count down to having my hair done as I know I won’t have to wash it for at least three days afterwards 😂.

I guess it’s just the exaggerated stories, if you use it (as a celeb) great but why try and create a story around how it fits your EXACT circumstances? Just say “I use it and find it great” - I may have missed the point of advertising...

fecketyfeck21 · 26/05/2019 17:24

not thanks for correcting me, but it's sunday and i'm not in school today, i'll ask my teacher on monday about google though Wink

@ILoveMaxiBondi totally agree I was ready to cancel our Haven holiday just because of that ad, totally set my teeth on edge. it seems to have disappeared from the radio now!!
I also despise the stupid Cambridge diet advert on tv. There is no way it can work long term (I know three people who lost loads on it but are now much bigger than when they started) it's completely false advertising.

Zacharysmummy12 · 26/05/2019 17:47

Feminine wash ads! All of them are cringey.

theliverpoolone · 26/05/2019 18:09

Jenny Éclair telling us all about her vaginal dryness - she seemed to be on every day not so long ago. I'm assuming they've paid her so much she'll never need to work again.....Hmm

I was just teasing!! I only know it's Skyr as it's the best yogurt in the world!!

fecketyfeck21 · 27/05/2019 14:37

not you're forgiven Smile
