Pls don't judge me and if you can't help just move one.
I lost my mum quite suddenly last year and although I'm now coming to terms, I feel guilty that we've not sorted out her headstone/gravestone surround yet. I'm the only girl and my brothers are looking to me to arrange this, even though I live about 150 miles away from the cemetery and they are local.
I've started to do research around this and the cost is astronomical £3.5K for granite which I read is the best. She was buried.
Pls can anyone help me with recommendations for alternatives in the South East of England? She is buried in Eastbourne - a company you've used will be ideal as this is something I don't want to get wrong as I have limited funds.

Don't you have to wait at least a year anyway, before erecting a headstone? The ground needs to settle.
Also, it is a decision that needs careful consideration and no one will or should judge you for taking your time. Least of all your siblings!

Oh, and I'm very sorry for your loss. ThanksThanks

You have to get advice from the cemetery, some only allow white stones. However a local stonemason should know what is allowed where.
They take an age to get so don't put yourself under pressure to get it done now.

Sorry for your loss.

Sorry for your loss.
Did your Mum leave any money? Could some of that be used for the headstone? If not, then surely all siblings should pay an equal share. I think there's a charge for the supply of the stone and for its erection, then a further charge for each letter of inscription.

@imsorryiasked - very kind of you. Thanks very much.
