Should I expect to have a period after serious illness?

I was taken into a+e in March with severe pneumonia, collapsed lung and all kinds of other crap, I had 4x X-rays per day sometimes. It's been a long and horrible journey but what is concerning me at the moment is that I have not had a period since before I was taken ill. Is it normal that when you've been seriously unwell, your periods stop?

I've no scientific knowledge, just anecdotal, but yes, when your bloods are all over the shop, it throws everything off.

Quite likely if you have been very poorly, your periods might stop. Concentrate on plenty of rest and good food and I'm sure they will come back before long. Good luck!

Stress stops your periods, and serious illnesses are generally stressful, so, yes. Get well soon.

Were you given steroids while in the hospital? IV or IM steroids are frequently given for illnesses that cause breathing difficulties such as pneumonia. Steroids mess with your hormone levels so they can delay your period. Mine would always be weeks late after I was put on a oral steroid regimen for my asthma.
