To think this is really poor practice by nursery?

DD goes to a lovely nursery but as the weather got warmer it became apparent that they are sharing a box of sunhats for all the kids. They just fish one out each day and plonk it on. Surely this is the fastest way to never ending cycle of nits?

But have you accepted that it is not really poor practice?

I wouldn't like this...

At my son's nursery (he is 2.5)the kids just bring in their own hats. Each child has a peg with their picture above it - so easy to find their belongings. If they can get the right jackets on them when it's cold, (assuming they do) I don't really know hats would be much harder.

That said, my son loves to dress up too, so I'm pretty sure he wears fancy dress worn by other kids there. Not much I can do about that. There are worse things in life I guess.

Oh good grief, of all the things to get in a lather about! You know preschool children basically spend the day licking each other and the floor and oozing snot right? Seriously though, have put 3 children through nursery all sharing communal sunhats, zero headlice thus far.

If parents sent in suitable NAME LABELLED clothing for their children at all times and taught their children to recognise their own stuff from an early age then nurseries would not have to provide extra clothing for them!

Do you have the same concerns about the various hats in the dressing up boxes?
