AIBU to not be at all surprised about the collapse of his restaurant chains?

I feel incredibly sorry for the people who worked there but the food was, for the most part, inedible. His food on his tv shows always looks fantastic but unfortunately this did not seem to translate into his restaurants, particularly Jamie's Italian.

Obviously he was just the "brand" to get people through the door but if the food is shite then the business was sure to fail.

The food was certainly not "inedible", that's a ridiculous thing to say.

However, it was very overpriced for what you got. We only went once and service was terribly slow. In a crowded marketplace with lots of other chains such as Zizzi, Prezzo and Carluccios offering similar food, they just couldn't compete.

After a bout of food poisoning from eating at JI in Westfield, Stratford, I never darkened its door again. Sorry for the staff. Jamie will be fine.

I've had 3 meals at Jamie's Italian's

First: Really not pleasant and restaurant was freezing.

Second: Better but it was breakfast which was served in the dish it was cooked in. This meant it was swimming in grease

Third: Massively expensive - we went as part of a group and when we got our split of the bill I was shocked

Use his cookbooks regularly, just wish the recipes had numbers

I went to the Jamie's Italian in Glasgow and the staff were so rude and the food inedible- it was almost cold

Thats my memory of Glasgow too. Waited ages and food was cold. The staff weren't great either. Expensive and we never returned.

Jamie's war on sugar is totally unhelpful. Give it 10 years and they'll decide it was a really bad idea.

Ooh another one iggity. I have never been so violently ill was laid out for days had newborn and toddler at the time too. Happy days! Dh contacted the head office but they wouldn’t respond.

I much prefer Jamie’s Italian to places like Zizzi and Prezzo but prefer not to eat in any of the chain restaurants.

Donkey - I think you will find that on both occasions I ate there the food was, in my opinion, inedible. That is only my opinion obviously but I did not finish my food and on the second occasion I sent it back as it was cold, too salty and the pasta was congealed. It was not nice at all.
