Charged double for a prescription

I picked up a prescription yesterday and was charged twice the normal fee, £18. The medicine is in one box but the blister packs inside have 2 different types of pills. The prescription itself said one item.
AIBU to think it’s one box, one item and therefore one £9 charge?
It’s HRT of it makes any difference [old fart emoticon]

Thank you for this thread, I also have HRT with 2 different drugs and am charged 2 prescription charges. I also have 2 other medications. I had no idea about the PPC, but have just done one online, it will save me about £150 a year! thanks...

The pre-payment card is really good. I pay by monthly direct debit.

I say card, but they have stopped giving the card now so you just get a piece of paper with the certificate written on it.

I have one prescription a month (my drs only do a 28 day supply at a time), so it works out a little more to have the card, but if I get even one extra over the year it works out cheaper. DH is on multiple pills so saves him £760 a year just on his basic prescription let alone any extras.
