To be a slimming world consultant?

Hi everyone, posting here for a bit more traffic!
I'm a slimming world member and half lost 2.5 stone. Yesterday I went to a consultant meeting and am really torn wether or not to go for it! I feel it's a big risk but something I would like to do. Has anyone any advice or stories if they have done it?
Would be greatly appreciated thank you!

Hi OP. Congratulations on your weight loss! Tbh, it is a bit of a risk. From what I understand (someone I know looked into this) you have to pay thousands of pounds for the ability to set yourself up. You then have to find yourself a location, a session time which doesn't clash with other classes in your area and market yourself. It's a lot of outlay and would take a long time to recoup I suspect, if you do at all.

I do wonder how many people who pay this fee to crime consultants actually end up having a successful class and make their money back.

Sorry OP, but in your position, I wouldn't. Best of luck for whatever you decide!

Thank you for your input.
Yeah I got all the facts regarding fees ect yesterday, it's 1.8k to set up. My consultant said he can earn between £150-£450 a week but he has got a well established group. I'm awake now thinking about it. If only we could see into the future eh!

I'm a big fan of SW, trust the diet etc, although some of the rules are bizarre I do understand why they are in place, like the mashing or cooking fruit. But anyway, I too have heard about that you have to pay a lot of money to SW and do a lot of leg work yourself, or rope your members into it, so help with flyering, operating the scales, setting up the middle table etc.

I used to get annoyed at being asked to do so much at SW while paying to attend meetings. It's important to check how much you keep of each members weekly fee, and also where/when you can set up meetings. Your 'patch' is often very tightly policed and I know my last class leader was tied into a certain slot that wasn't a great time for us so we ended up leaving because we realky didn't get on with the alternative class leader.

But if you go in with your eyes open to these things it might be ok?

I also looked into it a couple of years ago and I wouldn't do it. Its a minium investment of £1500 extra for more than 1 group.

depending on your group sw most of the subs paid, you get a measly amount.

You have to delivery 1000 leaflets every three months, keep upto date with your sw social media, call lapsed members / no shows. Be more or less available for queries from members 24 hours. Its too much work for not a lot of money

I love sw but they are taking the piss

YouTube search 'Nikki Ryan AKA fopperhollic'. She's a consultant and about 2 weeks ago did a video called "what it's like to be a SW consultant". Have a look at that and it might give you some ideas!

Don't do it - unless you are going to make it your full time job, dedicating hours and hours and £££ to marketing, leaflet drops, consultant meetings, divisional meetings, training etc. Most likely you will also put back on the weight you lost too, it was very common when I was a consultant (briefly)
I would honestly advise anyone against it

This is very old but still makes for an interesting read. I looked into it a few years ago but after reading this I ultimately decided against it as the initial outlay is high and the hours can end up being very long vs what you actually often earn.
