Lighthearted - 'Win a Prize Every Time!'

Is it just me that thinks 'This is what's wrong the world today!' whenever I see this.

My DD thinks it's perfectly acceptable to pay £3 to hook a duck and 'win' a crappy prize worth 50p of disposable plastic tat.

The prize is crap, it doesn't make any financial sense and in real life you don't always get to win every time.

She's 4 BTW so I maybe over thinking this.

If you didn’t win a prize every time, the quality wouldn’t suddenly go up. Plastic tat is the essence of fairgrounds!

But what's the point of a game where everyone wins! Just buy yourself something instead.

My dd is obsessed with these games when we go to a fun fair. It's £3 a go to win something you could buy in the poundshop. The actual games is irrelevant. A little bit of me dies each time I spend my money on these.

There's the money down the pan element but also I think because I'm fiercely competitive I don't enjoy winning unless I can see a loser crying. My poor children are doomed.

I agree OP. The crap always just has to come home and gets forgotten about immediately.

I imagine that more people play if they're guaranteed a prize and then it feels like less of a waste of money compared to walking away with nothing. But yeah it's a bit 'participants trophy'.

Agree completely. I'd rather put the money in the school raffle and either win something half decent or nothing.
