One case of scarlet nursery

So last Monday (19th) we got notification that there had been one case of scarlet fever in my DS Nursery. The child was back that day having had 5 days of antibiotics. So by my reckoning he must have been diagnosed by Tuesday before at latest and off since then. No other child has been diagnosed with scarlet fever since. So that is s period of almost 2 weeks since he would have been infectious and in contact with other children . Incubation period is apparently 1-7 days. AIBU to conclude it hasn’t spread and it’s one isolated case? We are going on holiday in a week and if any risk I can try and get alternate child care for DS next week (but will be difficult).

I think I’d risk it.

Where are you going on holiday? Somewhere where you could easily access dr etc if you needed to?

Yeah - mainline Europe. So we would be able to get treatment. But it would be pretty miserable if he was ill.

Your real issue is if there are any further cases. SF is a complication of the strep throat virus , so you may see signs of that instead. As long as you are insured and can see a gp wherever you are then it can pass fairly quickly,
