Tag movie - miscarriages are funny now?

Just watching 'Tag' with DH. Found it ok, a few bits actually made me laugh a lot. Then, there is a scene where the bride starts to have a possible miscarriage. Have turned it off now, don't want to watch the rest. From what we did see & what I've just read online, she didn't miscarry & it was a distraction to stop a character from being tagged. Aibu to think that miscarriage is not something to joke about & it's ruined the film for me & maybe others. Am I being over sensitive? I ow feel dad's d quite annoyed by it!

That is outrageous!!! Utterly not funny.

I watched it last night. Was a lighthearted, funny, easy to watch film and then this happened. And it was pretend so they could pretend to them their wedding had been cancelled so the groom wouldn't be tagged. I thought it was a disgusting thing to pretend, even in a supposed comedy film

It's wrong isn't it? I feel so disappointed in the actors too. I can't see how anyone involved could have thought that it was funny in any way! Who the hell suggested it? Who thought, yes that's got my backing!
It's just making me feel so angry.Angry
With everything going on in America with all this abortion ban crap (WTF are they thinking?) I thought I was being overdramatic. Reassuring to know it's not just me thinking it

It sounds utter shit

But it wasn’t supposed to be funny. It was acknowledged that they had crossed a line. I don’t think you’re being precious but can’t say it bothered me either (and I have suffered a miscarriage if that makes any difference)

I have a very liberal and an almost 'anything goes' attitude to comedy but this disgusted me. Shit film anyway but I turned it off at that point. Ugh!!!

Justincase87 · 18/05/2019 23:16

It's based on a true story which is the only reason I can imagine it being the storyline, as I can't believe someone would make that up (although I guess if it did happen that's just as bad!) - I would have been really upset watching that, especially in a comedy film.

Shalll thanks for your reply, nicely & honestly put. I did see that bit at the start about it being based on real life, but I don't think I really linked it, so that's a good point. I think it was the unexpectedness, a bit of a shock.

It's based on a true story apparently so maybe it's come from that but still, not something which should have been included in the movie...

Ed Helms plays a character in Hangover II who awakes and subsequently finds out he had sex with a man while off his face on drugs (accidently) he is horrified by this revelation. He doesn't remember a thing. I've never heard anyone question it but really... isn't this rape? I tend to avoid films with him in since (rightly or wrongly). The attitude of tinking it's funny just doesn't sit right with me.
