To ask if pleurisy pain comes and goes?

Shamelessly posting for traffic Blush

I’ve had a raw feeling in my chest for a few weeks now ; assumed cold / viral thingy.

Over the past few weeks I’ve been getting some awful pains in my left rib cage just under my breast .

It only lasts a few minutes and then it goes .

I rolled over in bed this morning and oh my goodness the pain!!!

It’s a sharp , stabby pain and is worse when I breathe in (but only when these episodes happen).

I couldn’t catch my breath this morning and was having to do short , panting breaths because it hurt so much to breathe normally - only on the left side .

It went away after a few minutes . Once it’s gone , I can breathe normally again but I then get a feeling of burning in my left breast for a few minutes .

If I breathe deeply after the episode has finished , it’s all fine Confused

Could this be pleurisy or trapped wind? Blush

Is it worth a visit to urgent care ? GP appointments are like hens teeth so I would be waiting weeks .

Yes go get an emergency appointment

My pleurisy was like that and at first the gp was worried I had a collapsed lung.

It’s a sharp , stabby pain and is worse when I breathe in (but only when these episodes happen).

I had that feeling with pleurisy but it didn't come and go, it was everytime I breathed in for a couple of days, after that it got less painful to breathe.

I've been having this, but hate going to doctors so keep putting it off. An ongoing rattly cough and sometimes a 'bubbling/gurgling' feeling under my left boob, that's the only way I can describe it. It gets better for a few days then worsens again... should I visit doctors or would I be wasting their time? It's been 2 months, so not like it's an emergency right?

Pleurisy is horrible. I was so ill with it. Get checked out. Hope you feel better soon 💐

Could be precordial catch syndrome. I get this and the first time it happened I thought I was having a heart attack.

I ended up sleeping sitting up when I had it, I literally felt like I couldn't breathe lying down and the pain was awful. Felt like death warmed up. Couldn't get a GP appointment so took myself to A&E. Chest X-ray and 2 different types of antibiotics (can't remember what). Was sure I was probably wasting their time in A&E but they said not.

If it’s coming and going I would ring the gp first thing Monday morning, I wouldn’t bother out of hours or the hospital

My experience of pleurisy was instant agony... like a pulled muscle in my back. I woke up at 4am unable to breathe. I was so worked up I had a panic attack. I was put on a nebuliser and sent to A&E

I’ve had pleurisy twice and the pain doesn’t come and go I was in constant pain for 2 weeks I couldn’t move or breath without it hurting the pain felt like I had broken a rib I could feel how swollen my lung was. I would get an emergency appointment and get checked out but there’s nothing that can be done for pleurisy you just have to wait for it go and just take painkillers I was given co codamol and naproxen when I had it.

My doctor had dismissed my similar pain, so I looked it up and against instincts, the pain is relieved by sleeping on the the painful side itself. So relieving.
I also slept at a raised angle. Must have been mild pleurisy, as this and OTC painkillers got rid. Good luck, it's so draining.

Pleurisy is constant agony. You need to get checked out though ASAP.
