I'm not adding milk, so I'd like a full cup of coffee please not half a cup.

Twice just this week (different coffee shops) I've had to ask them to top it up. Admittedly they did it with no quibbling, but I hate having to ask all the time.
I specifically ask for black coffee so I'm not being unclear am I?

You could ask for it to be “allongée” which means they run the water through the coffee for longer, rather than just making an espresso and adding hot water. It gets progressively weaker but you gets your money’s worth ;-)

Still yeah, but if I had that much black tea I'd be weeing for the next 2 hours...

@Enko

I know what an Americano is. I live in Spain and drink them daily. In the UK they think an americano is an espresso in a giant mug just topped up with hot water and that makes it large. It's horrible, just watery coffee. An americano should be in a normal sized cup, not mug, topped up.

The UK has weird ideas about coffee.
