Cleaning as a nanny

I'm a nanny and since the youngest children started nursery, I do some bit round the house. Washing, ironing, beds etc all fine. But on the weeks the cleaner isn't there I'm being asked to clean the bathrooms. I personally don't think this is my job. I know for a fact I get paid less per hour than the cleaner. I wasn't employed as a nanny housekeeper, and I wasn't asked if I would mind, it was just assumed. AIBU?

givemesteel Four kids and two of them little ones - I imagine the bathroom WOULD need a deep through clean every other day not every other week.

OP can you make a written list of your duties to show them. When you list your routine on here - it doesn't look as if you have a lot of spare time. Maybe do it in the form of a text or email to remove them twisting your 'Mr Muscle' with guilt.

I think one of the previous poster makes a good point, that you are in a better position than you think. Good reliable houshold staff that will look after four kids, cook, change beds, iron are a godsend. You were entitled to maternity leave, she had it for four kids didn't she? Also, say you are happy to carry on with 'nursery duties' not thorough cleaning - despite cleaners earning more money!

You have been with them 3 years, so obviously you both like each other.

Have you had any pay rise in that time?

I would sit them down and have a wee chat about it.

No pay rise no. I think my wage is probably average for this area but I don't really know
