Sorry this isn't really Aibu but posting for traffic.

I am suing a business and proceedings have been going on for ages. Late last year I was told my court date, if it goes that far, could be any time between May and August. I do have a solicitor and will check this query with them tomorrow. Just wanted to see if anyone could give me a steer before hand.

Obviously that period covers the school holidays and I want to be able to book a holiday but could do with some idea when is least risky time to go.

I have completed & submitted my witness statement earlier this year & mid march I received their's. Does anyone know what the next steps are and what the cut off date would be before a court date would have to be applied for? So far, the business has responded at the last minute or asked for extensions.

I don't know if there are too many permutations for anyone to give a clear answer to this, I've never been through anything like this before. Thought I'd ask anyway.

I’m in Scotland, so may not apply if you’re in England or Wales. Normally a date will be set having regard to parties’ diaries, so it should be fine for you to go on holiday as long as you clearly communicate the dates you will be unavailable. Your solicitor will be able to advise of this is the same in your case.

I was told late last year it could be between May and August and was asked then if I had any dates I couldn't do. I didn't really think I'd get to this stage without having some idea of either when the court date would be or if it would be settled.

Thanks for answering tho

Sorry. I should add I didn't have any dates then and still don't as have been expecting to hear something one way or the other.

Book the holiday then inform the solicitor and ensure they make the court aware. If no date has been set you are free to do as you please and they should work around that.

Thanks. Feeling more reassured!
