Didn’t know where else to ask. Iv been prescribed this this morning. Suffered with my mental health since I was 14 now 27. Tried a few things over the past 2/3 years and nothing has made much if any of a difference. I was discharged from my CPN because she didn’t think she could help me and my issues weren’t her speciality. I know they work differently on everyone but I thought I’d ask here how people find them? Maybe I’ll get some hope. I usually ask on a social media group I’m part of but things are that bad Iv deleted all of it.

Best of luck, OP. I fixed a time in my head to take them, partly so I wouldn't forget but also to try to make it a habit and just take it and get on with whatever. Definitely they worked well for me. As has been described, took the edge off so that I could get my thoughts together instead of being in a constant grip of anxiety. I found the nomorepanic website helpful, I found a lot of positive stories there and also added my own.

Thank you ♥️

Just started these myself. I'm hoping they do the trick as things are getting pretty bad.

MrsFoxPlus4 · 16/05/2019 11:37

madcatladyforever I’m the same I had a pretty restless night don’t know if it’s linked or I was just having a rubbish sleep. Feeling awful today though haven’t managed to leave my bedroom yet

Be gentle with yourself, rest up. If that's what you need to do today, do just that.

MrsFoxPlus4 · 21/05/2019 11:49

Hey all. Don’t know if anyone will still be active here but did anyone get any migraines? I feel awful.

OP posts:
hellsbellsmelons · 21/05/2019 11:50

I believe it is a side effect but it hasn't happened to me.
It does take a while for your body to get used to it.
When are you taking it?
If it's morning then it might be worth taking it before bed instead.

bridgetreilly · 21/05/2019 11:54

I find that for the first 2 weeks of taking them they give me mild nausea, fatigue and general miserableness. On day 15 I wake up and it's like I'm myself again. So my main advice is persevere if you get initial side-effects. They don't last and if the drug works for you, it really works.

bridgetreilly · 21/05/2019 11:55

Oh, also, I find it MUCH better to take it before I go to bed at night, so that any side-effects I do get mostly happen while I'm asleep anyway.

MrsFoxPlus4 · 21/05/2019 12:31

The doctor said for me to try and take it in the morning because iv been sleeping a lot & it has an awaking effect. So iv been taking it around 10am but the migraines are lasting all day. How can I switch it up and take it at night & see if that makes a difference

Took it for 20 years, basically all my adult life, until now. 20mg (40mg when the times were very difficult). I guess that's what it took to work full time and be married to my first husband. I didn't have any bad side effects.

PepsiLola · 21/05/2019 12:40

I changed from Sertraline to this as I didn't feel any benefit from Sertraline (I do hope I've spelt that right).

Anyway it was so much better, I actually felt normal on it.

Unfortunately I ended up having to come off it, as a side effect for me was that my hair started falling out.

Keep at it, try and work the time out that suits you the most, hopefully you get the best outcome from the drug

MrsFoxPlus4 · 21/05/2019 12:45

Unfortunately I ended up having to come off it, as a side effect for me was that my hair started falling out.

Right now I’m petrified I have alopecia and lost all my hair 18 months ago it’s just started to grow back Sad

It didn't work for me, I was very down, no motivation, killed my sex drive.
I am currently on steraline it has worked wonders, I did put on weight, I have gone for a jog the past 3 mornings and I feel the extra weight will go.
It sent my appetite into over drive, I done a healthy food shop Friday. I am feeling good again already.

mommathatwearspink · 21/05/2019 13:00

I hope things improve for you OP Flowers
I’ve been on this since late last year and it has helped me so much. The depression had turned me into a really horrible person and Citalopram helps me not to be that person again.

MrsFoxPlus4 · 21/05/2019 13:15

EmeraldShamrock That’s pretty much how it is for me anyways. Anything right now would be an improvement. Setraline didn’t work for me unfortunately.

mommathatwearspink Thank you, I’m hopeful ♥️

I know lots of friends and family members on it and it works well for them (although it's always personal and will be different for everyone).

My partner was just told by a pharmacist (not GP) that one of the main ingredients is an antihistamine so it's best to take it in the evening/at night, otherwise it can make you drowsy. He's now feeling much better than he was over the first couple of months and has noticeably much more energy in the mornings.

Good luck op x

EmeraldShamrock · 21/05/2019 14:36

It is really hard to find the balance, try some mindful and meditation videos from YouTube along side the medication.
I hope you feel better soon.

MrsFoxPlus4 · 21/05/2019 14:43

EmeraldShamrock thanks I have done before but it’s not really for me Smile

OP posts:
CharityDingle · 21/05/2019 14:50

I was told to take it in the morning, but switched to evening which worked better for me. Hope it suits you OP and that you feel better soon.

PepsiLola · 21/05/2019 16:42

I'm sorry to scare you, keep at eye on hair loss... as soon as I stopped taking it my hair stopped falling out.

So if you realise it's happening the side effect won't be that bad as you can stop it.

I promise the drug in itself really helped me, if it wasn't for my hair issue I would still be on it. It's probably a tinyyyyy % of people it happens too

justjuggling · 21/05/2019 19:23

I’ve been prescribed this several times over the last 10 years and found it helped me get through several challenging periods.
