Ds and skin problem

Posting here for traffic.
I am feeling really bad for 18 year old ds as he is covered in what looks like guttate psoriasis and despite creams from the doctor it doesn't seem to be responding.
He is very distressed about as he is due to go on holiday in July and he is fretting about them.
Please does anybody know of a treatment for this that acts fairly quickly.

Agreed with above it's taken me 24 years (had eczema from birth) to be offered anything oral for my eczema. I rejected them because they can cause lung fibrosis.

Sunbeds are the same, hospitals just use a safer lightbulb and obviously you’re under dr care in case a mole goes wonky. It’s the one and only time I recommend people using them, if the wait for a dermatologist is months long, as it usually is.

Wow sunbeds are NOT the same as what is used in hospital. For one light therapy is UVB radiation and in very controlled doses. I started on 30 secs on the first session and 120 secs by the last. Sunbeds are UVB AND UVA, worse than sitting in the sun for the amount of radiation they provide. Stop giving people dangerous advice.

You can still get skin cancer from UVB. My own dr told me to use sunbeds whilst waiting for my dermatology appointment.

Light therapy is dangerous, biological treatment for psoriasis is dangerous, you’ve got to make a calculated decision as to how much risk you are willing to take to help with symptoms.

And if psoriasis is affecting someone as bad as it did myself when I flared so badly I couldn’t move without my skin splitting and bleeding and 80% of my body was covered, and my joints were so swollen I couldn’t pick my daughter up then yes, sunbeds are preferable to that.

My ds 2 has psoriasis on his scalp and he really does feel embarrassed by it. It's not something that is hugely noticeable unless his hair is overly short but he does get a patch down one side and what looks to others like dandruff so is self conscious - most 17 years olds would be I guess.
It's come on in the last year and is something that is not really helped by much sadly. His shampoo from the gp soothes the itch but other than that it's a case of hoping that at some point it might go as suddenly as it came.
Hope you get a more positive answer for your son, it sounds very sore.

MustardScreams · 16/05/2019 11:14

@Moondancer73 get him to ask for Dovobet gel, it should clear it up pretty quickly. The shampoos tend to do bugger all, but this stuff is much better. Makes you very greasy so he’ll need a good clarifying shampoo to get it out.

Moondancer73 · 16/05/2019 11:53

@MustardScreams he has had some dobovet but it just seems to keep it from spreading rather than getting any bigger - that's obviously something though :)

Neem oil worked really well for a while on DS.
Especially on the scalp.

my son has been having eczema till recently and we have been using steroid creams and all sort of chemical creams. it never had any effect. Then I decided to stop using all the chemicals once and for all and instead tried to focus in healing his eczema from within. It is not a quick process ,we started in Octbober 2018, but now there is a huge improvement and that is all without any single application of steroid cream (they are horrible and should never be used). I even put together some tips as I wanted to our experience battling with my sons eczema ,hoping that it will help all the other people who are also suffering from this condition. Its all about eliminating irritants and having a correct skincare and bathing routine with all the natural products along the way !!!
please do watch my video and hope it will help you :
