Posting for traffic really.

Just entered my meter readings for both gas & elec (& double checked them) & now EDF want to increase my DD to £210 a month!!! Wtf?! I live in a standard 3 bed semi, me, DH & 3 kids.

I moved to them to save money, my monthly DDs have never been over £110. I'm flabbergasted.

How much is yours?

Only electric with a dd of £165 - feels like a lot!

TokyoSushi · 13/05/2019 17:31

£87 total for both per month with Ovo, 4 bed detached.

I think you need to switch OP!

SciFiScream · 13/05/2019 17:32

Combined gas and electricity for a 3 bed semi £60 pcm. 4 people living in the house with the youngest two being avid consumers of electricity!

Fairly new boiler, double glazing, insulated attic, energy saving devices wherever possible.

Maddiemademe · 13/05/2019 17:32

We have a 5/6 bed house very large Victorian house. Bills are extortionate here for me, DP and 2 children. Gas bill for Nov-April came to £1400. Electric in this time was £900. Water £380. We had the heating on most winter though but I felt sick when I saw the amount of the gas.

NineinaBed · 13/05/2019 17:35

£90 on a 4 bedroom Victorian detached house.

LynetteScavo · 13/05/2019 18:02

My company were taking £220 pm for a 3 bed (extended) semi. I'm now several hundred pounds in credit but they've only given me £70 back and dropped the bill to £160.

I'm cross because I knew I didn't need to pay more, but they just took it anyway.

ControversialFerret · 13/05/2019 18:23

Currently £77 on a dual fuel with EDF for a 3 bed detached.

winepls · 13/05/2019 19:40

It's all sorted - they had used wrong opening readings, and so it looked like our first 6 months we had used triple the amount of energy that we did!

£62 a month for gas and electricity together
3 bed semi

PixieDust26 · 13/05/2019 20:40

£60 gas and electric. Large 2 bed flat. Yours seems very high! 😲

Harveypuss · 13/05/2019 20:45

I agree with NotSuchASmugMarriedNow1. I too cancelled my DD with Scottish Power and now submit monthly meter readings and pay what I owe by cheque. I was totally fed up with them changing my direct debit every month. It's all calculated by a centralised computer and at one point my DD doubled. I used to have to ring them up every month and have an argument and insist my DD remained the same. Phone bill went up because of all the calls! Much less stressful now.

£85 per month for gas and electricity with Bulb. We're in a 3 bed semi

myusernamewastakenbyme · 14/05/2019 07:17

I pay £61 a month for electric only but always get a refund as i end up in credit....im oil for central heating and that cost me approx £500 a year.

TheHobbitMum · 14/05/2019 07:36

£90 for gas & electricity woth Bulb for a 5 bed terraced house. Your bill seems extortionate!

user1480880826 · 14/05/2019 07:41

Have a look at Bulb. The electricity is all from renewables and they have a deal at the moment so you can split £150 cash with an existing user who shares their discount code with you.

Curious2468 · 14/05/2019 09:47

Ours recently went up to £175 a month and I’m shocked too! I have no idea how we fight it though

Whatdoesitmatteranyway · 14/05/2019 09:53

£250 per month

But we have a hot tub and a koi pond and we don't really turn things off

dementedpixie · 14/05/2019 11:23

EDF have done the same to me. I'm in credit but they say that what we currently pay won't cover what we use so want to increase it

dementedpixie · 14/05/2019 11:26

We're £145 in credit and were paying £125 and they want to increase to £147 per month.

Marianaxos · 15/05/2019 10:53

My DH switched in January from British gas to octopus energy. We pay monthly. I have found this to be cheaper then what we were paying before. We have also taken advantage of the split £100 switch incentive. This works by referring freinds or family and splitting £100 between them. You can refer as many people as you like. Meaning you could end up with free gas and electricity. SmileTo date I've recieved £100 off my gas and electricity bill. Hope to get more. I can PM you a referal link and if you switch you will get £50 credited to your account.
