To eat curry takeaway, or any takeaway actually, directly from the boxes and bags rather than putting it in bowls and on plates?
The point of take away is no hassle and washing dishes is a hassle imho😁 Once I attempted to eat the curry just with the naan so I wouldn't make a spoon dirty. That's how lazy I can be.
Plus whatever is left over will just get the original lid popped back on and put in a fridge. Simple.

Apparently I am "uncivilised" and should put it on normal crockery.

Ha ha my parents (RIP) used to decant takeaway into china serving dishes and set it all out on the table, with serving spoons and everything grin
My Granny does this and cooks some vegetables to go with the fish and chips.

I tend to put curry/Chinese on plates because we order several things to share.
If we're having pizza or kebabs then straight from the box.

Stumpedasatree · 13/05/2019 16:16

I can't not eat from a plate! How would you control portion size, otherwise I would have no idea how much I'm eating.

Farmmum7 · 13/05/2019 16:36

It depends what we're having we usually get lots of dishes from the Chinese/Indian so would use plates to share it out but if we are ordering individual dishes from the Thai like noodles I'd eat it straight from the container or if we had pizza, kebab or fish and chips we would just throw it on the table and dig in. I hate washing up too if I can avoid adding extra dishes to the pile I will!!

I wouldn't want to keep leftovers that had been eaten out of with a salivary fork, and I value my leftovers, so wet stuff like curry or Chinese goes on a plate. Better for sharing that way too. Pizza out of the box, fish and chips out of the wrapper, but balanced on a plate. Doner kebabs only eaten when drunk, so I've no idea!

DianaPrincessOfThemyscira · 13/05/2019 16:56

YANBU except I always decant anything that comes in the tin container as the sound of cutlery scraping on it is horrible!

I really really want a curry now.

LizzieMacQueen · 13/05/2019 17:08

There's an argument it's better environmentally as you don't need to heat up a little water to wash the plates.

HollowTalk · 13/05/2019 17:13

I couldn't eat out of polystyrene. I can't drink anything from a polystyrene cup and would hate to eat food out of it.

MerryBerryCheesecake · 13/05/2019 17:21

Chips taste wrong if you put them on a plate and pissing about with plates more often than not means cold food.

YANBU

Greeborising · 13/05/2019 17:33

mrsm43s I think doner kebabs are traditionally eaten off the pavement 😉

PatriciaHolm · 13/05/2019 17:33

For curry - I always use a bowl, as I like to have a bit of everything on my plate at once (rice, veg, curry, naan!). Fish and Chips goes on a plate too, I can't cut the fish properly otherwise. Pizza from the box though ;-)

GooodMythicalMorning · 13/05/2019 17:33

we usually share everything so we have to portion it out on plates. unless its fish and chips and we each have our own.
