To ask you to tell me your favourite Actifry recipes?

Fresh off a thread about best recipes for the slow cooker, I was wondering if anyone could recommend good actifry recipes please. I got one in the MN product test a few months back and, despite me worrying it’d end up filling most of one of my cupboards, it’s pretty much permanently out on the side and being used multiple times a week - just on the same recipes / side dishes!

  • Salt and Pepper chicken [https://www.myfussyeater.com/actifry-salt-pepper-chicken/]. As of yesterday this has now officially been named the Carter family’s favourite meal! Soaking the chicken in milk keeps it surprisingly moist yet crispy.
  • Southern fried chicken thighs
  • chips / cubed potatoes
  • roasted chick peas

I’m fascinated by paella / risotto recipes but not entirely sure how they work. What else can people recommend please?

I’m thinking of getting an actifry. Have you tried roasting potatoes in it yet?

Somethingoutedme · 12/05/2019 18:56

Lidl baby jacket potatoes (refrigerated) are really nice done in the actifry.

Ffsnosexallowed · 12/05/2019 18:59

I only really do chips in ours, though it's good for reheating onion bhajis and doing hash browns in

Nikhedonia · 12/05/2019 20:33

I'm thinking of getting one. Are there any particular ones others would recommend?

So simple but can’t be beat - these roast potatoes katykicker.com/airfryer-roast-potatoes

Chips. Chips done all different ways. Especially nice dusted with garam masala.

Great for emergency roasties when the oven is out of space, though they need to be little ones.

And nice for roasting new potatoes.

Mine's one of the original ones and the paddle is hard enough to get clean without doing other stuff in it.

@MyNameIsJane Chips, (mini) roast potatoes and cubed potatoes (DH's favourite and previously only made on Boxing Day because such a fiddly faff of pan shaking to ensure they cook evenly without burning) were all game changers in the Actifry for us.

Risotto works well in the Actifry but bear in mind -
a) it takes quite a bit more liquid than normal to get the rice soft
b) it takes a good 45 mins

AgentPeggyCarter · 13/05/2019 10:40

Do you have a recipe that's worked for you @noctu?

I don't mind it taking 45 minutes so long as I've got the paddle in so don't have to do the stirring all that time myself!

It’s the Pinch of Nom Garlic Mushroom Risotto Smile not sure if I can link directly but a google search brings it up

Traveler001 · 13/05/2019 13:23

I cook stir fry in mine. It’s also worth getting the basket attachment if yours doesn’t have it so you can do more ‘delicate’ things like fish fingers/battered prawns etc

Fatbutt · 13/05/2019 13:53

Sausages... its slightly scary how much fat comes out of them in the actifry! but they cook evenly and are delicious!

We use ours mostly for roasties or chips, but have done chicken wings in there, spray of frylight and leave them to it (without the paddle)
