To think Paddy Jackson does not deserve to wear a London Irish rugby jersey

After the massive protests that rightly surrounded the infamous Ulster Rugby Rape trial, only one year ago, he was dismissed from both Ulster and Ireland rugby teams. Yet now London Irish has signed him.

Jackson was found not guilty of rape and not guilty of assault

Not sure what you think the right course of action is OP. He has been found not guilty by jury trial.

AskMeHow · 10/05/2019 15:18

He's a disgusting person though, as Ulster and Irish rugby recognised.

Babycham1979 · 10/05/2019 15:19

hmmm...another libellous thread. I wonder if he'll be instructing his lawyers to speak to MN HQ

ImNotHappyaboutitPauline · 10/05/2019 15:20

He's a scumbag and I say that based on what he and his friends did admit to in their trial.

IAmTheChosenOne · 10/05/2019 15:22

@Babycham1979 - where is the libel?

Battytwatty · 10/05/2019 15:22

FFS! Is there anything men can’t get away with. The injuries that poor victim suffered were shocking

Howyiz · 10/05/2019 15:22

The lack of respect for women he showed in his WhatsApp messages with the other neanderthals is bad enough, never mind the rest. No club should associate themselves with that kind of behaviour.

maidenover · 10/05/2019 15:23

YANBU he’s an odious little shit who had absolutely no respect for women.

Battytwatty · 10/05/2019 15:24

Didn’t his lawyers threaten to sue everyone who said he was a rapist cue thousands of tweets saying ‘sue me paddy you rapist’ 🤣

IhavetoD0something · 10/05/2019 15:26

I agree. Found not guilty but the evidence brought to court beggars belief. He should be hanging his head in shame, not trying to put it behind him and carry on playing in the public eye.

PanGalaticGargleBlaster · 10/05/2019 15:48

He should be hanging his head in shame, not trying to put it behind him and carry on playing in the public eye

Serious question, what should he be doing? The courts found him not guilty and rugby is all he knows? Should he retrain as something else? Going forward how should he be supporting himself?

BumblingAlongNow · 10/05/2019 16:12

@PanGalactic at the very, very, least, and as a role model for rugby fans of whatever club he plays for, he should have demonstrated some form of rehabilitation for his vile behaviour (undisputed facts of the case quite apart from the verdict), for example educating himself first and then going to talk to young players about consent and how important it is to establish consent.
Or just basic respect for women.

But in any case, no one has the right to be a professional rugby player. It is a privilege - a huge privilege - and with it comes responsibility as a role model.

But honestly, who cares how he supports himself, frankly. I don’t hear anyone asking how the female victim is supposed to get her life back together.

What tosh. It's a marketplace and he's a good enough player to be in demand. It's no more 'a privilege' than any other job done by someone who's bloody good at it.

He's officially an innocent man. The point still stands.

Babycham1979 · 10/05/2019 16:24

And there's your libel. He's been acquitted. She's officially not a victim of his.

LaurieMarlow · 10/05/2019 16:26

YANBU he’s an odious little shit who had absolutely no respect for women.

A million times this. I’d boycott any club who signs him. What kind of message is that to send out to female supporters and young fans (and older fans for that matter)?

LaurieMarlow · 10/05/2019 16:28

It is a privilege - a huge privilege - and with it comes responsibility as a role model

Agreed.

MoodLighting · 10/05/2019 16:29

He might have been proved innocent but his Whatsapp messages were foul. If you consider 'role model' as part of the job description (as I do) then he surely is not qualified.

LaurieMarlow · 10/05/2019 16:30

Serious question, what should he be doing? The courts found him not guilty and rugby is all he knows? Should he retrain as something else?

Who fucking cares? He’s not owed a living by anyone?

CordeliaWyndamPryce · 10/05/2019 16:30

She's officially not a victim of his.

She was a victim of his sexist arsehole behaviour. He was acquitted of rape, not being a sexist arsehole.

alittleprivacy · 10/05/2019 16:30

She was absolutely the victim of the horrendous dehumanizing treatment that vile little shit and his mates admitted to. She was the victim of the injuries he admitted to inflicting. And if you want to get parsimonious about the law I suggest you do basic 101 research into UK rape law. Jackson just has to not have realised he was raping her to be found not guilty. The bullshit phraseology of the law means he can be legally found not guilty while she is still considered a victim.

alittleprivacy · 10/05/2019 16:33

LondonIrish and more importantly their sponsors need to be made the focus of an organised movement to have that vile scumbag removed from the team. It can be done if people are vocal enough.

IhavetoD0something · 10/05/2019 16:35

Serious answer, he should stay out of ehe public eye for as long as the sentence he ought to have received.

He is not sorry. He doesnt deserve success because he is a shamelessly self-promting remorseless narcissist.

Exactly alittleprivacy. I can't believe people think that because the law didn't find him guilty there's no issue here ffs that poor girl was still bleeding 24 hours later from the "not rape". But hey, yeah, he should totally be put into a position as role model for young people cos bless him he's a sportsman and must be allowed to earn the ££££, I mean what else could we expect eh? Certainly not that the male dominated sports world might give a fuck Hmm.
