To ask if anyone has an endoscopy through the nose ?

I’m in such a state as I need to have an endoscopy. I’ve been reading that it is possible to have had done via the nose rather than the mouth. Anyone had it done this way and if so was it ok. My anxiety is so high.

I've had one through the nose and one down the mouth. I'm a nervous patient like you and I DIDN'T need sedation!

Get them to show you the camera first. It's really not that big. I'd imagined like a BBC camera bulking down my delicate little throat passages, but in reality it's thinner than your little finger.

I had a lovely nurse during my mouth endoscopy - she explained why I was gagging (you can't help it) and burping (ditto), and she held my hand.

It's over in about 3-5 minutes. Totally doable.

I opted not to be sedated as you have to stay in hospital for 30+ minutes afterwards while you wake up, and I just wanted to be in and out.

Totally normal to be scared but hopefully you'll get a lovely team like I did, because they were all so, so reassuring and kind.
