DH booked spa hotel for us & our 2 dogs

WWUD, DH said leave it to him to book a breakaway next month, we have 2 dogs and have stayed in hotels with them for the odd night but it’s not really great due to not being able to just let them out and quite restricted being in basically one room.
So he rang and said he had booked a 4 night breakaway and just said on the coast in uk, when I asked if it had an enclosed garden (thinking it was a holiday cottage) he wouldn’t say.
I know I shouldn’t have but I had a look at his emails (wrong I know and he would be annoyed if he knew I had looked).
Anyway it’s a lovely spa hotel right by the beach but I just feel it will be alot of a hassle each time the dogs want to go out to put them on their leads and walk them to where ever is suitable for them to go to the loo etc and I’m pretty sure dogs are not allowed in most of the hotel, the dog friendly rooms are in the ‘courtyard’. AIBU to think he’s not really thought about it? Should I just go and make the most of it instead of sounding ungrateful??

Yabu and ungrateful.

I thought you were right to cross as taking dogs on breaks I have found to be a PITA and having tried it a couple of times wouldn't do again. But if you don't mind holidaying with them I don't really see the problem.

The courtyard probably might be dog friendly but I doubt the hotel want dogs going to toilet there? I’d be annoyed too OP, having to take dogs out first and last thing is really inconvenient.

Is it on North East Coat OP?

Sounds very similar to a hotel I know very well, if it is.

Our dog loves hotels. We’ve done a few with him and it’s rarely a problem taking him out of its coastal. North House in Cowes is fabulous with dogs. Ours sits and watches us swim in the outdoor pool, joins us in the bar and even had a cooked breakfast.

It's it in Devon?

cheesenpickles · 09/05/2019 23:30

Some of the dog friendly places near me are amazing!

cheesenpickles · 09/05/2019 23:31

If it's the one I think it is, which has a name linked to debt, it's a stony beach so wouldn't panic.

Youtoldme · 09/05/2019 23:50

It’s South Devon

YABU. It sounds like a lovely holiday. I'm sure you'll be fine just popping out with dogs.

ZippyBungleandGeorge · 10/05/2019 06:13

@Youtoldme if it's woolacombe PIL stayed there and enjoyed it! They line to holiday with their dogs and usually go for a cottage too

kateandme · 10/05/2019 08:11

CherryPavlova · 10/05/2019 08:21

If it’s Soar Mill, it’s lovely. Fantastic dog walking and a private beach. Spa isn’t the most amazing but rest is. Their self catering apartments of beautiful.

Tanaqui · 10/05/2019 08:32

I'd love any names of dog friendly spa hotels (with out the complications of can't take them to restaurant or leave in room) if anyone has any!

JaynePoole · 10/05/2019 08:37

I’d ring and check if they have a rule about dogs not being left alone in the hotel room. That is what has always put me off.

SerenDippitty · 10/05/2019 08:37

You’ll probably find the dog friendly rooms in the hotel are in the most convenient place for when they need to be taken out. Ground floor. Some place we stayed in the rooms had French doors that opened into the grounds. You’ll have a lovely time.
