I genuinely read this as hysterectomy and was like ‘holy shit’

I had a hysteroscopy with a GA. I went private as insured thro work and I would not have it down whilst awake.
I was slightly crampy afterwards so pretty sure I would not have tolerated it awake.

I had one with multiple polyps removed under local anaesthetic. Slightly uncomfortable, wouldn't say painful, but would much rather that than the risks associated with GA.

I've had both - the first was with local and the best way to describe it is "intense" as I had a polyp removed for a biopsy.

There were further, larger polyps that he couldn't remove with out causing pain/discomfort so I went back for a second one under general.

Although it was not a pleasant experience the pain was fleeting and I was left with mild cramps which went with a hot water bottle and a couple of paracetamol.

The room was full of doctors/trainees and two nurses, we chose some music and they chatted to me the whole way through.

I’ve had an endometrial biopsy with no pain relief and it was agony. I’ve never given birth though. When I had a polyp removed it was under GA thank goodness.

I had a hysteroscopy for polyp removal and as far as I know they just kind of flushed the area with an anaesthetic, it wasn’t the best day of my week but definitely not as bad in reality as it was in my head!

I've had this done. I was told to take my usual period pain relief (so paracetamol or ibruprophen) 30 mins before the procedure (which did sweet FA!). I found it very uncomfortable but I am quite a sensitive person & the staff were very kind. They offered to stop but I just wanted it over with. I was never given any anesthetic options or I would have taken them. Good luck with the procedure and ask all the questions you can think before hand.
