Thx for the info was hoping he might have more weekends free over the summer 😬 I’m not very up on football he is also an avid supporter of his local team do those matches stop now and start again 10th August ? ( that’s what I’ve read !!)

If his son plays for an Academy football will be his life, if you dont want to spend weekends, weekday evenings etc watching his son or his team be prepared not to see much of him.

Depends on the club and region your in, and if he plays for the 1st team or the 2nd

My sons is academy level and plays for the 1st team, he will play over the summer.

Not sure if it’s first ir second team 🤔 yes I’m starting to realise quite how much of his time is dedicated to his sons football and to the team they support and the son plays for as the U12s. I thought maybe as football season finishes now till 10th August ( is that correct ??) he’d be more available but maybe not due to friendlies training etc. I did say I’d go along to see a few of his sons matches so I could see him even if it was at football but he didn’t seem keen

My DS(12) plays at Academy level, he plays all through the Summer (except for two weeks while we are on holiday), friendlies, tournaments, training camps.

Football rules our life pretty much, I don’t mind as I love the game at every level.

You may find it’s a case of if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em!

I'm not surprised he's not keen on you going, he'll be wanting to watch his son, concentrate on the match and talk to other parents who are similarly invested in the team/game as well as talk about the match with his son on the way there /back.

Until you know him and his son much better and are genuinely interested in the football it is not a good idea.

The professional leagues finish soon, but even those players train and do friendlies over the summer

ghostyslovesheets · 09/05/2019 22:10

dd's does - she plays mini tournaments and friendlies through out the summer

BackforGood · 09/05/2019 22:12

Re if the team he supports have finished now or not - it depends who he supports !

There are Teams involved in the Plays Offs (at least 2, hopefully 3 more games)
There are Teams going to a European Final, or still playing (think there are games tonight)
Premier League are all playing on Sunday

Scottish League are still going

Women's World Cup matches start around 6th June
