Hello hello. I’m 7.5 months pregnant. The other day I went to pick up a crib for my baby and dropped it off at my apartment via stopping in the communal car park. There were no visitors spaces left so I parked in an empty space knowing there is no surveillance and with every intention of coming to move the car later. I totally forgot to move the car back to my (separate) car park once I got in the flat. The next day I realise, come down and see that someone has keyed my lovely Audi!!

Well it is pretty likely to be the person whose space it was right?

I notice a BMW parked in a nearby space. This morning, the BMW is now in the space which I originally parked in. The space belongs to a “piping” company

Here are the options

  • check if the BMW is still there tmrw and if so return the keying - eye for an eye (husband is keen on this one)
  • go into the piping company office heavily pregnant and ask if anyone knows about why my car got keyed while accidentally in their space (obv they will say no but make them feel guilty)
  • call up the car company pretending to be a surveillance company having seen an incident on the CCTV
  • put a note on the BMW along the lines of “nice clean door you have here”
  • crack eggs down the windscreen of said BMW
  • just let it go and get on with your life (not sure husband is up for this one)

Is there something better.

Thanks in advance

How about:
Realise that I was stupid for not moving my car from someone's space and learn from it?

Being pregnant is not a free pass to do what you want.

OurChristmasMiracle · 09/05/2019 11:53

Actually would be better to see whether the car park has cctv and if so get a copy of the cctv first?

If it does have cctv AND it is the owner of the bmw then leave a note on the car saying you have CCTV of them damaging your car and they have one of 2 choices. 1- they pay for the damage to be rectified or 2- you go to the police for criminal damage.

kalopali · 09/05/2019 11:55

I doubt we need to claim on insurance we will just DIY sand down the damage

Must be a bit of a shed if you’re going to attempt DIY sanding lol!

wombat1a · 09/05/2019 11:59

Are you bonkers? You are going to key someones car just because there is a (v small) chance they keyed yours? I hope you are caught doing it and end up having to fork out 1,000s for a respair and get a criminal record for criminal damage......

Your proposed reactions are beyond pathetic.

Look we are not ACTUALLY going to key the BMW ok?!! Although it is tempting. Jesus Christ. Being pregnant actually IS a free pass to do a lot of things and I intend to take full advantage of that. I like the dogshit idea. If only I could be bothered to leave the flat

Tulip1011 · 09/05/2019 12:25

Sadly (or fortunately?!) there is no CCTV

Says who? You? It isn’t actually and especially when you’re in the wrong to start with.

JacquesHammer · 09/05/2019 12:31

Like what?!

PamelaX · 09/05/2019 12:39

YOU DON'T KNOW WHO KEYED YOUR CAR!

MyMumDimensionJumps · 09/05/2019 12:39

The issue is you can't really be sure it was the BMW driver, although if it was and that's how they react to someone parking in their space I would just pity them and move on. They are clearly a 5* bell-end to respond in that manner. They will probably kill themselves on the road one day by driving like a twat, so just look forward to that instead.

Bluntness100 · 09/05/2019 12:41

This just gets more batshit by the moment.

Aye, being pregnant gives you a free pass to be a vengeful nutter. That's exactly what it does.

Hmm
PamelaX · 09/05/2019 12:47

Being pregnant actually IS a free pass to do a lot of things and I intend to take full advantage of that

it's a pass to ask for a seat and ask to use the loos.
That's pretty much it.

PamelaX · 09/05/2019 12:48

*and a pass to ask others to empty the cat litter if you have a cat.

unless you get tested and you're fine

DoneLikeAKipper · 09/05/2019 12:48

Oh is it now? I should have taken full advantage of that when pregnant, though if caught out doing some (literal) shitty behaviour I fear ‘I’m pregnant so I can do pretty much as I please’ excuse wouldn’t hold up in court. However, it seems you’re willing to try and prove that theory wrong, so good luck!

Starlive23 · 09/05/2019 12:51

Oh my word, none! You don't even know for sure who it was! Don't do any of those things OP, take a step back and think rationally!

CocoCharlie83 · 09/05/2019 12:59

As much as I hate people who key other peoples car it couldn't have happened to a more deserving person.

Try not to be a CF in the future and you won't be in the position for it to happen again

MidnightMystery · 09/05/2019 13:10

I'd be absolutely furious! Confront them (secretly record it) and take it to the police.

I prefer the dog shit idea

PamelaX · 09/05/2019 13:11

confront WHO? you don't know who it is, you didn't see anyone, you have no recording of the fact.

PrincessCessy · 09/05/2019 13:14

Is there an option for ‘grow the fuck up’?

You were in the wrong

Bluntness100 · 09/05/2019 13:19

The op, proudly giving all pregnant women a bad name.

EvilMorty · 09/05/2019 13:20

Typical Audi driver.

EvilMorty · 09/05/2019 13:22

Do you key the cars of people that park in your spaces

I have a drive. Because I spent my money on a house that comfortably accommodates my needs, not on a status symbol car.

Passthecherrycoke · 09/05/2019 13:26

YEah, I’m sure OP could’ve traded her flat for a house with a drive if she’d just put in that extra £30k she spent on the car 🤣 not

EvilMorty · 09/05/2019 13:28

I doubt she’s spent £30k on her car, it’ll be on finance as most Audi’s round here are, while the owner lives in a slum. Where cars being keyed is entirely the norm.
