Do you have a wheat bag that you can heat up?

Iamtinkabella · 09/05/2019 08:16

Bobbindobbin · 09/05/2019 08:18

Private osteopath!?

Damntheman · 09/05/2019 08:20

Yes a hot water bottle will do the trick! Or even some rice in a sock (put a glass of water in the micro with it when you heat for safety).

Sorry OP that sounds awful. Is your 10 m/o walking or are you able to lie on the floor and let them crawl over you for fun?

TheAnswerIsInABookSomewhere · 09/05/2019 08:21

Heat is my go-to for anything like that! :D Wouldn’t a hot water bottle be quite inflexible though? I recommend having a wheat bag in the house, as well as a hot water bottle, because you can wrap it around your shoulder/ knee/ arms when they hurt! Hot water bottles better for back and stomach pain.

Iamtinkabella · 09/05/2019 08:22

@Bobbindobbin just had a look and no one is by me and i dont drive. the thought of getting on a bus or public transport sounds painful on its own (too much movingBlushSad)

@damntheman diy rice bag...that’s a smart idea!!!! :D

Iamtinkabella · 09/05/2019 08:23

@TheAnswerIsInABookSomewhere would they sell then in a pharmacy? i used to have one but recently moved house and cannot find it anywhere! i loved it too, helped with everything.

Ah. I was going to suggest a chiropractor. Can someone take you? When mine spasms it's the only thing that stops me crying in pain.

HennyPennyHorror · 09/05/2019 08:24

Can you lie flat on the floor? That can sometimes put things back in place...be very careful whilst you do it....and once down, SLOWLY move your head to one side...stop if it hurts....and then SLOWLY move it to the other.

A bath could also help.

Iamtinkabella · 09/05/2019 08:25

@Damntheman never even thought about that, thank you! will try it. She is very active, not walking on her own but walks alongside furniture and does not keep still. I could do with a play pen for days like this haha!

@HennyPennyHorror i cant even lie down it hurts too much. i wish i had time for a bath but a quick 5 minute shower is all i get with DD crying after me. I am a single parent so no help unfortunately!

Alternate ice pack and heat and regular paracetamol.Massage if you have a partner who will oblige.

Ime you have one really bad day of a cricked neck then it starts to ease, hope it's the same for you.

LoafofSellotape · 09/05/2019 08:29

Sorry X post

NoSauce · 09/05/2019 08:30

You poor thing. Ice pack it first OP.

TheAnswerIsInABookSomewhere · 09/05/2019 08:31

I’m pretty sure pharmacies would sell them, or Wilkinson’s, or big supermarkets. I bought mine from Bodycare a few years ago. I like damntheman’s idea, would tide you over til you can Amazon prime one and then you wouldn’t need to leave the house at all!

Loopyluloo · 09/05/2019 08:31

You might have torticollis (neck spasms).. Its temporary but agony! I'm not one for running off to the docs but I had no choice with the level of pain and he didn't hesitate prescribing diazepam and codeine.. It was the only thing that touched the pain!

Iamtinkabella · 09/05/2019 08:33

@LoafofSellotape thank you! ive took some paracetamol.

@NoSauce i have ice and heat defence spray, can i use them on my neck? i only went the doctors yesterday over migraines im getting so really really dont want to have to go back again and look dramatic! haha

TheAnswerIsInABookSomewhere · 09/05/2019 08:33

Boots or Superdrug should sell them too. I’ve just googled and some really expensive ones out there! Standard ones only cost £3-£5

Iamtinkabella · 09/05/2019 08:33

@TheAnswerIsInABookSomewhere thank you! my little nana said she will try and pick me one up, bless her

Poppins2016 · 09/05/2019 08:34

Do you have a travel cot? That could work as a makeshift play pen (if you feel able to lift in and out...)

Iamtinkabella · 09/05/2019 08:35

@Poppins2016 i dont but ive managed to move the furniture in the living room to create a large play pen, just have to watch her with the tv now!

flower3305 · 09/05/2019 08:36

You can get a combination of paracetamol and codine over the counter I have found these were a life saver when I did the same.

cottonwoolmouth · 09/05/2019 08:36

Co-codamol?

Codine always works for me. Go to your GP. I got some heavy duty painkillers when my neck was in spasm. Spent a couple of days in bed in the land of purple unicorns - t’was great!

Iamtinkabella · 09/05/2019 08:37

@cottonwoolmouth @flower3305 thank you. ive just emailed my gp for an online consultation because i feel too dramatic to go in ha. Hopefully they give me something similar!
