To think US corporations don’t give a flip

Time and again they break laws but they seem to feel immune from any sanction. There’s a clutch of them who seem to do what they like

Well, of course. That's what happens when the lawmakers are paid by the corporations. First they break the law, then when it looks like they might get in trouble they get the laws changed.
The US political system is carefully tuned to channel money to the politicians. It's a finely oiled machine.

Corporations can donate money to political campaigns but bribing them is a felony, for both parties.

Can you give an example of a law that was changed by a corporation after breaking it?

I was thinking about Mark Zuckerberg's refusal to come and talk to the UK parliament.

The UK should shut down Facebook use until he turns up and answers some fucking questions about what they are up to - but the politicians are piss weak and will allow Facebook to carry on doing what the fuck it likes (all in my opinion of course).

There are other examples, he's not the only offender.

Why are we letting them do anything they want?

I dont think we can demand he comes over for a chat.

What bit of FB don't you like?

What bit of FB don't you like?.
The bit where the boss refuses to come and answer a few questions about what they are up to, put to him by democratically elected representatives of the citizens.

I know we can't force him to, but it ought to be a price for doing business here.

Carol Cadwalladr raises some important issues around Facebook and others' lack of any accountability in her TED talk.
