NC but first thread.

At 10 days over, with a failed sweep would you chose an EC (offered next day) or go for an induction (3 day wait).

I have already chosen and had my outcome, I just want to know if the consensus was with me or not.

Is it first child?
If so I'd wait and see.

PotolBabu · 07/05/2019 20:59

I would have an EC but I have had caesareans and recovered well from two so they not daunting for me.

Wale90 · 07/05/2019 20:59

Yes first child.

Elcs by that point I was desperate not to be pregnant any more. I also had zero desire to give birth naturally.

maidenover · 07/05/2019 21:01

I’d go for the induction with the aim of avoiding higher risk for future pregnancies.

BladderBlues · 07/05/2019 21:01

I was 40 + 12 and had 4 (Yes 4!) failed sweeps. I was induced at 7.30am... Nothing much happened until about 4/4.30pm.. DD was born 2 hours later with only gas and air and no tears.
If I could go over and be induced again I would.

ladybirdleaf · 07/05/2019 21:01

For first child I'd wait, if I'd had a previous caesarean I would go for the elective.

ahtellthee · 07/05/2019 21:02

I was induced with DC1. I did end up having a c-section though. (And then three more).

A c-section is an everyday operation, but it is still a serious one. I would try everything to avoid it, if I had the choice. (I never did).

DoomOnTheBroom · 07/05/2019 21:03

I'd choose ELCS but out of my four deliveries my favourite one was the elective caesarean and my worst was the VB on only gas and air.

ahtellthee · 07/05/2019 21:04

But I should just say, that I recovered well after each c-section. My youngest just turned 4, and I still have no feelings at all in my stomach. I do have a muffin overhang.

Just when I look at my friends who delivered vaginally and who were up and about straight after the birth, I would definitely try to avoid surgery if possible

Crocky · 07/05/2019 21:04

I’d wait. I was 12 days over.

SockQueen · 07/05/2019 21:05

I'd go for the induction, post-term it doesn't increase the need for EMCS over spontaneous labour and I'd rather avoid surgery unless necessary.

I had an induction at 42 weeks and it was very straightforward.

Mummyme87 · 07/05/2019 21:05

I would choose induction at 41+4 as a first baby. I’ve now had a CS and VBAC so if this was me with a 3rd baby I would be induced that day

bitchfromhell · 07/05/2019 21:06

I'd still go for an induction, even though my failed inductions took a week and I had a section anyway. I say this because I'd like to know what normal child birth is like.

Doyouneedthetoilet · 07/05/2019 21:07

I was induced early due to gestational diabetes, but I failed to progress so ended up having an emergency c section.

BarrenFieldofFucks · 07/05/2019 21:07

I'd wait. 10 days isn't massively massively overdue, and they'll keep an eye on you. Sweeps did nothing for me with my first two

Yura · 07/05/2019 21:09

EC. i had an induction with my oldest, massive mistake (and had to have a c section anyway, just 52 hours later...)

HappyMama01 · 07/05/2019 21:09

I was induced on 9 days overdue with my first. Best decision for me.

WoahThereMama · 07/05/2019 21:11

EC

I was induced with my first and had an EC with my 2nd due to baby being breech. I’d chose an EC any day over being induced.

bamboofibre · 07/05/2019 21:11

I'd have a CS.

Crunchymum · 07/05/2019 21:12

I can't answer really.... was 9 days over with DC1 but hadn't even got to the point of an induction date then (had an appt for prolonged pregnancy clinic the day I eventually had baby and I'd have been given a date then!)

No sections but DC3 was induced. 22h of niggles and about an hour from labour proper to baby in arms. But that was number 3!!

vinoandbrie · 07/05/2019 21:12

ELCS. Hope all goes well, whichever route you choose.

Paraballa · 07/05/2019 21:14

At 41+3 I'd wait. You're not overdue till 42. Term is 37-42 weeks.
With my first I was prepared to go to 43 with monitoring of the placenta.

Lauren83 · 07/05/2019 21:14

I would have the ELC, I had a failed induction last year that resulted in a section as they just couldn't get me going, having DS 2 next month and taken an ELC. My recovery was great and much quicker than I expected

SunnyCoco · 07/05/2019 21:15

Elective cesaerean
No doubt at all
