To ask for temps in Brittany in June

Are we talking 20's or 30's?

Dd is off there in June, but her summer wardrobe would be pretty limited!

Her wardrobe consists of trackies basically (Irish - so summer is 2 days a year where it hits 25 degrees).

Probably be similar to the uk.

Pack for that plus a few outfits for warmer days? Or do a forecast and pack at last min in case of freak weather.

Is it a school thing? I would have thought DD would not be over dressed most of the time. As an old bloke, I would be in shorts and t-shirt all the while, and maybe rarely wear a jumper.

June 2014 was lovely in Brittany. Not a drop of rain all week and got pretty hot (camping).

TescoValueUserName · 07/05/2019 21:11

If you go to the website wunderground you can get historical weather records on there. I always use that whenever I book anything!

pineapplepatty · 07/05/2019 21:14

You're an angry little elf, OP, but I think I like you.

It's usually about the same as the UK, her normal summer stuff for home will be dandy.

TwoleftUggs · 07/05/2019 21:20

We’ve been in July several times. Twice was 18-24ish c. Last time was fucking freezing. We were just unlucky though. Actually it wasn’t freezing it was just the same temps as home (northwest) and I was expecting better so it felt colder Grin She’ll be fine with normal summer clothes I think. Shorts, tshirts, leggings and a hoodie.

GrainOfSalt · 07/05/2019 21:23

Brittany is very similar to our weather, could be cracking temps and no rain but it probably wont be. As others say about an average of 20 degrees and same chance of rainfall as home. As it is on the west coast then higher chance of rainfall than further east in Europe (bit like Ireland really).

I remember being very disappointed when I went to Rennes (Brittany) on a French exchange when i was 14 as I had visions of Mediterranean temps and blue seas. It was mainly grey and it rained. I went back about 10 years ago and it was lovely.

GrainOfSalt · 07/05/2019 21:28

I just saw you said Noyal Chatillon sur seiche - that's just outside Rennes so yes, normal summer clothes and hope to get lucky with the weather Grin

Smile 21.4 average high, pretty sure it was way higher than that last year though, it got as high as 37c in Bordeaux, but I think pretty much the whole country had a heatwave then as did the UK. So neither average temperatures, historical records or personal experience of previous June temps will tell you with any certainty what this June will be like. The best guide will be checking the long term forecast just before departure and even those aren't that accurate beyond the first few days...

OP I’ve worked in Brittany (north) and it’s really variable to be honest. I’d lit her out with normal summer clothes she’d wear in Ireland as she could go between sunbathing and rain in the space of a week - much like Ireland.
Brittany is beautiful she’ll have a great time Smile

Atalune · 07/05/2019 22:26

It won’t be hot.

Likely to rain.

Pretty mind.

costacoffeecup · 08/05/2019 01:21

I've been to Brittany in late June for four years running and it's been hit and sunny every time, last year there was a heatwave and it was up to 36 degrees some days. I was pregnant, ill and miserable.

This year I'm not pregnant and desperate for some sun and hot weather so it will most likely rain.

BitchyArriver · 08/05/2019 01:50

I spent every summer in Brittany as a child. It was normally warm and sunny, but every couple of weeks or so there would be a rain storm and it could be cold or rainy for a few hours. Defo pack 1 jumper and a light raincoat. One year there was a heatwave and my brother was so badly sunburned he had to go to the local hospital.
