Which US Office character was most likeable?

Rewatching these and towards the end you really go off Jim and Pam. And until they made him a dick (for no real reason) Andy was very likeable.

I think Erin and Dwight end up being the ones we root for most here. Dwight's character is amazing. They really do a stunning job with him.

Michael's horrible behaviour to Toby rules him out. AIBU to think Dwight could win this award?!

I've watched episodes here and there over the year but only watching from beginning to end now. Just moved onto series 8 now. Andy is most likeable at the minute but judging by the above comments that's going to change soon!

AnnieOH1 · 07/05/2019 20:42

Definitely Dwight, I'm still sore that the proposed Schrute Farm spin off never got off the ground.

CryptoFascist · 07/05/2019 20:44

Darryl! Easily the most sensible and likeable person.

TunstallTansy · 07/05/2019 20:53

@user1471517900 my apologies, I sort of gave up watching in about series six then just skipped to the last episode Blush.

Hobbes8 · 07/05/2019 20:58

Another Darryl fan here. I like Oscar too.

To the PP who asked if it was good....the first series or so is a poor imitation of the original with some funny bits, then it goes its own way and is genuinely brilliant for a while, then it goes on way too long and becomes terrible, with characters acting utterly out of character for no reason. So probably worth watching until mild spoiler alert Steve Carrell leaves.

sunshineandshowers21 · 07/05/2019 21:06

my favourite character is creed, just because of his total randomness! also love dwight and mose, i’d have loved a spin off about their adventures on shrute farm!

user1471517900 · 07/05/2019 21:07

There are some good ones post Carell but also some annoying characters etc too (plus the random Andy change). The episode where they go to Robert's house is great.

Never quite sure if I liked the Gabe character or not

Dwight is the best, he's always protecting everyone in his own way! Erin's really sweet! I think Pam gets better as time goes on! I love everyone! Apart from Angela 🙄

ladybirdleaf · 07/05/2019 21:13

Daryl is great by the end but in the earlier seasons he's mean and kind of a bully.

last season Andy is horrible and I don't know why the writers did that. Him and Erin were a great couple.

Yes! I have no idea why they split them up, I liked Erin and Andy as a couple.

Although she's not likeable, I loved Kelly's character.

10000thusername · 07/05/2019 21:14

I cried so so hard though when Micheal left he just made the show it's not the same without him (also rewatching) on season 8 again

MeltedEggMum · 07/05/2019 21:14

Dwight is hilarious and interesting.

Darryl is cool and attractive.

Jim is cute and funny but as he ages the pranks wear thin.

Creed is hilarious.

If they were real people, I'd like Toby best. He's endlessly patient and kind and his embarrassment over accidentally flirting with Pam is hilarious. Who doesn't want to run away to another country after a cringe-worthy gaffe with a secret crush? He actually did it though! Bless.

10000thusername · 07/05/2019 21:15

I still can't believe that Kelly, Toby and Ryan were writers for the show!

MeltedEggMum · 07/05/2019 21:16

I found Robert unnervingly attractive. Wouldn't touch him with a barge pole irl but the way he looks at the camera....

MostIneptThatEverStepped · 07/05/2019 21:17

Rewatching at the moment.
First time round would have said Jim, next time would have said Dwight, this time it's definitely Darryl!

Soulsista14 · 07/05/2019 21:51

Michael hands down. He was horrible to Toby but was so open about it that it didn’t seem malicious. I wish I had a boss like him.

Grosserygangrule · 07/05/2019 22:05

I loved Dwight, he had a good heart and cared underneath the weirdness.

Loved Michael the eternal optimist, who loved them all (except poor Toby)

I couldn’t stand Erin, found her so incredibly annoying and ott

Darryl was cool, creed was fab, in fact one of the few series where I liked the majority of the characters.

Jim and Pam where ok to begin with but where very arrogant and everything had to be big gestures l, chill out

TurquoiseAndPurple · 07/05/2019 22:26

I don't think Jim & Pam become less likeable. But the issues they had when he moved to Philly put a dampener on their track record.

Whereas Dwight just becomes more and more likeable consistently throughout! I'd say he wins.

CordeliaGoode · 07/05/2019 22:28

Another vote here for Dwight! He absolutely makes the show. Second most likeable for me is Kevin, even though they really dumbed him down as the series went on. I find Erin extremely unlikable and she puts me off watching the later seasons.

TurquoiseAndPurple · 07/05/2019 22:28

Also, Creed is apparently the most like his real self... Including being named Creed in real life Grin

TurquoiseAndPurple · 07/05/2019 22:31

@Timmythyme it's soooooo good! I've watched it so many times now 😂

Secondstartothergt · 07/05/2019 22:58

The ‘Michael hating Tony’ thing is not really character driven I don’t think. It’s ‘office us’ culture where everyone hates HR for some reason. When David Wallace is interviewing everyone for jsn’s job he says something to him along the lines of ‘you’ll get in great with everyone here at corporate. Except the HR guy, he’s s real...’. I think it’s writers in-joke.

Secondstartothergt · 07/05/2019 23:00

But back to the question! Dwight, with a Michael second. I find Jim and pam insufferable.

duckme · 07/05/2019 23:05

@Timmythyme
Yes, the US office is very good! I loved the UK office but it's American counterpart had me laughing out loud regularly.
I loved Dwight. He was the best character by far, although I was a little bit in love with Jim!

FunkyKingston · 07/05/2019 23:15

Pam and Jim, pair of tossers. She's moany and needy, he's controlling and selfish. I couldn't have given two fucks about their romance.

TitianaTitsling · 07/05/2019 23:24

Oh Dwight is the best! Bears beets battlestar Galactica!
