Me:

  • single mum to 6 month old
  • 6 month old is ebf
  • very bored
  • love arts and crafts
  • have a car
  • very social person
  • like to make things, but only if they look decent (mother is an artist and I am good at art too)

Any ideas? I'm so bored and have PND. I'm tired a lot but feel like I need a hobby. Anyone?

Have you considered learning to make chainmail or scalemail? You can create really beautiful things! particularly if you have an eye for art.

Damntheman · 07/05/2019 07:22

(Not to mention you could then sell it on to LARPers and cosplayers if you so wished)

@Damntheman no but googling now as that sounds fantastic! Thank you.

Book art! There’s lot of places you can get free patterns. Sniffed at a bit on here, but people outside of mn love them. Not destroying books either as it’s only 5mm snips from the edge of the page.

It’s really addictive! I make them just because I want to, but people always want them when I’ve finished them so I’ve made about 30 and have none left!

Oooh book art is so beautiful too!

OP if you're curious about making the chainmail, there's a shop called theringlord where you can get kits and tutorials. It's not too painful, even with shipping included :)

What about quilting? You can do it with old scraps. My neighbour does them and they're truly beautiful

Photography? Drawing? Felting?

gerispringer · 07/05/2019 07:46

Calligraphy? Plenty of YouTube videos, save loads on making cards etc.
Sewing - get an old machine, learn how to make stuff - start with cushion covers progress onto more complex stuff- clothesmaking etc- a lifetime addiction!

What about something different for you?
Helping out at a local stables? Grooming, mucking out, feeding, riding etc. Generally plenty of other chatty friendly women there.
The baby can go. Plenty of fresh air.
Horses are a therapy.
