My son (15 in two weeks) was going to make himself a cup of tea and asked I wanted anything. I said I’d love a black coffee please, topped up with a bit of cold water. He’s just presented me a mug of freezing cold water with a spoonful of instant coffee stirred into it! I’m somewhere between bemused and exasperated... it’s probably the 10th thing today that’s made my shoulders sag and leave me wondering where I’ve gone wrong with my bloody kids 😂

Grin Assumed knowledge. Always explain explicitly to avoid disappointment. Having children with SN helps here Smile

'I'd like a coffee made with hot water, with no milk. Could you leave a gap at the top of the cup, then add some cold water at the end?'

My teenage child made a coffee from the machine in the kitchen. It requires switching off when the cup is full. Which they know, as they've seen me do it plenty. Child did not do this, and even when water was spilling out they had to be told, as 'I thought the machine knew when it was done!'
This is not a new machine. I'm going to ask for a child refund! Grin

Your request is pretty weird though so you probably should have clarified. But it is obvious (the adults!)

Bobbiepin · 06/05/2019 11:00

Your 14 year old asked if you wanted anything when getting himself something. I think you've done a pretty awesome job.

CaptainButtock · 06/05/2019 11:09

^^This 👍🏻

Lol. Sometimes they take things literally. While you were thinking WTAF, he was probably thinking the same thing about your bizarre request Grin

But, you're doing something right for him to ask if you wanted anything!
