Getting fit during pregnancy

16 weeks. Starting to feel vaguely human again after horrible first trimester but SPD starting to return with a vengeance.

Pre conception was on a plan to get fit but hadn't really kicked it off yet. Now not sure what to do. I was about 2 stone over weight and just wanted to get healthy. All the advice says you can do what exercise you did before- but that was hardly anything.
What can I do to get fitter during pregnancy
And
What exercise can I do to make my SPD better/not any worse!?

I pretty much lived in the pool when I was pregnant. I also nicked my husband's ebike because it was easier on my hips than walking but I am an experienced cyclist. Swimming is nice. Gentle.

I rode, carried on at the gym and swam when I was pregnant with ds (now 19 months).

I’m 27 weeks now with dc2 and am struggling with what i suspect is pgp.

I have a trainer at the gym and we’re doing gentle workouts. She’s suggested Pilates or yoga for core strength.

I did spin and Zumba as well as working FT as a teacher until I was 39 weeks pregnant with my first. I also had 2 dogs so walked twice a day. Didn’t stop me having a 22 hour labour with a distressed baby. The only reason I didn’t have an emcs was that there’s were no theatres available and she nearly died, spent the first week in SCBU.

Honestly do not stress about it. Do what your body can cope with. If your pelvis hurts, you did too much. I’d try aqua aerobics to start with and maybe build up if you can. Pilates might not build up cardiac fitness but it helps build up core muscles that will help with birth and the “after effects”. Good luck.

Have you been seen by physio? They'll be able to advise you properly.
I couldn't do any exercise because of my SPD, I was on crutches for walking and was advised against swimming or pretty much any exercise.
I don't see why you need to get fit, just focus on eating healthy and being well

I started Aquanatal last week at 17 weeks and its gentle exercise. We also have mum2be exercise classes in my area so plan to start that next week. My midwife said both were fine.

OP I kicked myself up the arse and finally went swimming. The weightlessness was just wonderful. I did nothing strenuous, just up and down the pool for half an hour, me and half a dozen little old ladies. I haven't felt this good in ages. Just that freedom of movement was so wonderful, can you tell I'm on a high Grin I will definitely be keeping this up and plan to gradually make it more exercise-y as I get used to it.
