If it was a one of as a treat sort of thing I don't see why not

Candleglow7475 · 04/05/2019 10:01

Do they mean all day as in 12 hrs solid? Or maybe a run of a couple of hrs?
I would let mine play for for a few hrs, but not all day / all night.

BarbedBloom · 04/05/2019 10:02

It wouldn't bother me if it was the exception rather than the rule. I plan to sit in the garden all day with a book so won't be much more active myself

MingeOnFire · 04/05/2019 10:02

Not unreasonable at all. As long as its not every day!

ForalltheSaints · 04/05/2019 10:09

At least get washed and dressed first, and not stink the place out.

FishCanFly · 04/05/2019 10:12

totally fine. (Even though I don't understand Fortnite obsession at all - there are so many cool games around, and i'm not arsed about age ratings)

ladybee28 · 04/05/2019 10:12

For one day as an exception - totally fine, especially after heavy exams.

I'd say it was on the condition they took a proper break for lunch, turned off the console etc. for an hour, and then again to leave the house (walk around the block, take the dog out, etc.) in the afternoon but beyond that, go for it.

Vulpine · 04/05/2019 10:13

No

Vulpine · 04/05/2019 10:14

I wouldn't do that

DerbyRacer · 04/05/2019 10:17

We don't have Fortnite so don't know what it is like. But definitely fine for your dc to chill out and do what he wants after having exams.

DeadWife · 04/05/2019 10:19

Yanbu, I would let them as a reward for studying hard. They may even surprise themselves by wanting a break from it after a while which is better than any parental lecture.

Blondebakingmumma · 04/05/2019 10:22

Just create ground rules. Start time, one hour break for food and walk/run/ride and finish time

Chimchar · 04/05/2019 10:23

I would let them.

DontVisitMe · 04/05/2019 10:31

Of course it's fine. I often have a gaming day when I have worked hard and need some down time.

SleepingSloth · 04/05/2019 10:39

Let him get on with it. I just insist on homework being done and that they take a half hour break every couple of hours. It's how they relax.

Takethebuscuitandthesink · 04/05/2019 10:47

As a one off-made clear to only be the once then it would be ok.

Aprillygirl · 04/05/2019 10:49

Yes let them relax and do their thang . Everyone deserves a day to do that now and then.

waterrat · 04/05/2019 10:51

As an argument against this - it's an addictive game and every day they spend doing nothing else is a day they become more addicted.

fizzysci · 04/05/2019 10:51

He's going for it but we're going out for afternoon tea and he's helping with jobs round the house in his gaps.
