To feel like I've forgotten how to lose weight?!

Tried every diet in the past. Yes I know it's a lifestyle, not a diet but I've lost weight dieting in the past. Mostly on weight watchers, low carb had worked also. But for the past year I've been yo-yoing.

Had some pretty shit stuff happen to me over the past few years which means my head isn't in I think? As I just can't seem to stick to a diet! And I haven't exercised for a year!

I have a 4 yr old, work in a pretty stressful job where I only get a short lunch break so can't workout at lunchtime like I used to pre DC.

Today I ate -

Scrambled eggs and skinny iced coffee

Then I couldn't go to lunch as I had to cover at work for someone so ate half a cookie from work kitchen.

Lunch was chicken and veg soup, bag of hula hoops (I'm addicted to crisps)

Dinner was homemade Thai green chicken curry (used less coconut milk and topped with chicken stock) with cauliflower rice

A milky bar with tea once DS finally went to bed at 8.30!

Any tips/help/a kick up the arse!!??

I buy one of those Starbucks cartons too, they do a skinny latte version.

@twinkledag

Not sure if I’m seeing the right one online but the
Starbucks skinny latte drink I found has 350 calories in a bottle. You’d be much better off using those calories elsewhere on something much more filling.

Yeah I'd be ditching the skinny latte rubbish. Just have an americano instead?

HappyStripper · 04/05/2019 01:18

Oh thats a different one so definitely not as bad calorie wise. In your place I’d really strictly count calories in mfp for a while then including weighing everything. It helped me readjust my food choices a lot as some things have a surprising amount of calories.

5:2 diet is your friend! I too love food - I mean people often say that but I really, really mean it Grin so you can still have the things you love 5 days per week so long as you stick to 500cals on your fast days. It’s the only thing that’s worked for me since having DD2.

OP, you really need to work out your TDEE (just Google "free TDEE calculator" there are plenty of them).

If you don't know how many calories you need to function, how can you know how many calories to eat to lose weight? Just plucking an arbitrary figure like 1200 out of thin air is just setting yourself up to fail. You are more than likely severely under-eating, which makes it virtually impossible to stick to any diet.

Also, choose more filling foods. A cookie and a bowl of strawberries have roughly the same amount of calories, but the fruit will fill you up more (and make you feel better too!)

Thanks everyone. Today I have started the day with a 3 egg omelette with spinach and shallots, no iced coffee 😭😭😭😭😭. Will save them for a weekend treat.

Going to try and stick with it!

Sounds like a great breakfast. Eggs are amazing

twinkledag · 04/05/2019 15:33

Thanks!

Had a salad for lunch with chicken tikka and a bit of dark chocolate. Will eat my leftover Thai curry and cauli rice for dinner.

Off to my mums - must try and resist the call of yummy food!
