To think that 2 weeks later is too late to call me to say they'll look at CCTV?

I was a victim of assault 2 weeks ago.
Just now, I get a call asking what happened, despite reporting it immediately, speaking to officers a day later and having heard nothing since. Now they're going to look at CCTV apparently. It's a bit blooming late!

I recently reported to the Police for my ex partner carrying out an assault it took them 3 weeks to get statements and cctv and now he has been charged with Common Assault and Stalking! Please don't give up on the Police, they just take time in investigating too ❤

Unfortunately cuts mean there just aren't the bodies to attend at the time of reporting. If the assailant has already run off there's not much they could do on the night that they can't do two weeks later, so if won't be a priority call at the time. As shitty as that feels as a victim of crime, it just isn't urgent on paper. There should have been more contact with you though, it's not nice to feel forgotten about or unimportant.
To suggest the police don't give a shit though is not fair, people don't become police officers and work in such a stressful environment because they don't give a shit. It's just unfortunate that they have to be told what to give a shit about when because there's no money!

Totally agree @AuntMarch my brother is a police officer and he very much gives a shit to the detriment of his own mental health sometimes.
