Sorry can't help with the blood results specifically but I am also under investigation for an overactive thyroid. Can I ask what symptoms you've been getting? I've got an extremely fast heart rate (was 140 resting at one stage) and have had a huge increase in anxiety and am generally very jittery and hyperactive. I had a blood test for it yesterday so I'm waiting for results. From what I can gather it's fairly ok treatment wise if it does turn out to be overactive. Good luck

blueluce85 · 02/05/2019 18:22

That is a very low tsh, i believe it should be around 4ish

thyroidblood · 02/05/2019 18:48

@moscovv I'm so tired lately and keep getting headaches, also strange menstrual bleeding which is being investigated separately due to white areas found on an ultrasound in womb, I'm loosing a bit of hair around my head and sweating a lot too,

@blueluce85 that's what I thought!

Fiveredbricks · 02/05/2019 18:51

No @blueluce85 it should be 1-2 to be ideal. 4 is borderline underactive by my Endos oppinion.

OP get your thyroid antibodies checked. That is not borderline, that is very underactive to have tsh so low.

thyroidblood · 02/05/2019 18:51

The thyroid antibody was 3.2

moscovv · 02/05/2019 18:52

Ah ok, so slightly different symptoms to me. I do feel quite sweaty especially my hands though

thyroidblood · 02/05/2019 18:52

Even with T4 within range*

Fiveredbricks · 02/05/2019 18:53

If you have any antibodies at all @OP you need to be referred to Endocrinology. It is likely autoimmune and possibly signs of Graves. I have Hashimotos at the other end of the scale.

thyroidblood · 02/05/2019 18:54

@moscovv your symptoms sound textbook hyperthyroidism to me , it's strange that nhs website says when you have hyperthyroidism that you feel hyperactive, I'm the opposite I feel so tired all the time

OP posts:
thyroidblood · 02/05/2019 18:59

Also , this has happened twice, my hear beats so fast it feels like it coming out of my chest which is scary

OP posts:
moscovv · 02/05/2019 18:59

@thyroidblood strange, tiredness is a symptom of under-active I think... In a way I am quite relieved that it sounds textbook, hopefully it means I can get treated quite easily (that is if the bloods confirm it)

thyroidblood · 02/05/2019 18:59

@Fiveredbricks what's the difference between those two?

OP posts:
thyroidblood · 02/05/2019 19:01

@moscovv yeah I'm sure once you start medication it will sort itself out , hopefully for me too, they just want me to repeat bloods again in a couple of weeks

moscovv · 02/05/2019 19:02

@thyroidblood just saw your post about heart beating really fast. I've got another thread at the moment on general health about this, but this all began for me after I went for a GP appointment for something else but she checked my heart rate and found it was 140 resting, ECG was ok so that's when she decided to check for thyroid issues. I quite frequently notice my heart beat being very fast and it feels very loud, however when the doctor checked it (and when I got it checked for another thing a few days ago) I couldn't feel it yet it was off the scale fast both times

Fiveredbricks · 02/05/2019 19:02

Google OP. Too much to explain. But with both your body is attacking your thyroid so it stops functioning normally and either goes into overdrive or dies off.

For what it's worth I know two people who have overactive and they're constantly exhausted. Not everyone is textbook 👌

CanYouHelpFindThis · 02/05/2019 19:08

Look up.... hashimoto's

thyroidblood · 02/05/2019 19:19

@moscovv mee too! I wonder if it's because of the hyperthyroidism, I just tried to measure my heart rate and it seemed fine, just occasionally I get that pounding thing and it's bloody scary!

@Fiveredbricks will do thankyou, yea your right !

I had similar symptoms a few years ago when my tsh was around 0.5 and it did go a bit lower at one point. I had palpitations, shakey hands, terrible anxiety and I was so, so tired that I basically lost a year of my life. I was told by my GP that it was borderline and not a problem but luckily I was with a consultant at the time for hormone problems. He concluded it was likely a thyroid infection due to the symptoms and recommended I tried an over the counter amino acid supplement called L-Tyrosine before resorting to medication. Thankfully that seemed to make a huge difference within a few days and I've been fine since.

thyroidblood · 02/05/2019 20:32

@Shittybobbins that's the thing with gps they do not know the best levels for thyroid problems , if my next one is the same they are going to refer me to an endocrinologist thankfully, I'm just scaring myself silly with google, I didn't realise you could have a cardiac arrest!! Just add that to the anxiety !

OP posts:
thyroidblood · 02/05/2019 20:32

To my anxiety*

I got a letter today they want to repeat in 3 months, I'm just a bit worried about it, is this the normal way?
Could anything really bad happen in the mean time?

OP posts:
agnurse · 05/05/2019 19:37

That does look to me to be hyperthyroidism. The excess sweating and racing heart rate you describe would be classic symptoms.

I don't wish to alarm you, but you should be aware that if hyperthyroidism persists it can lead to heart failure. If you start feeling as if you can't breathe, or you notice swelling in your feet or legs, you need to see your provider IMMEDIATELY.

thyroidblood · 05/05/2019 21:32

@agnurse thankyou for your help, il look out for those symptoms.
I really hope nothing bad hapoens, I just don't know why I have to wait Confused

thyroidblood · 06/05/2019 12:03
