How long is reasonable to ask people not to discuss an incredibly popular TV show

And also not to think anyone will post about it on social media?
Avoiding commenting on posts because I know it pulls it up on newsfeeds.

Days, weeks?

Oh god I definitely wouldn't spoil it on a Monday morning. I record the 2am one and either get up early to watch before work or watch it when I get home. That's just shit as some people can't record the 2am broadcast. Most people I know watch it at 9pm.

If people aren't watching it when it's on, then they aren't that bothered about it.

If people aren't watching something broadcast for the first time at 2am on a Monday morning, they aren't interested?

I remember on a thread a while ago that someone mentioned Dobby dying in the last Potter book and someone else was pissed off at them ruining it. People were like, it’s been SEVEN YEARS, it’s hardly a spoiler. It was brilliant Grin

sweeneytoddsrazor · 02/05/2019 15:59

If I want to avoid people talking about it then I stay off of sm where most of it seems to take place. Stopping people discussing it in the workplace is a bit different as I can ask them but have ni right

sweeneytoddsrazor · 02/05/2019 16:00

Arg posted to soon. Meant to say no right to dictate their topic of conversation. If I could I would go else where in the building whilst they are discussing it.

Mrsjayy · 02/05/2019 16:01

Gill Biggeloe is actually H

She so is she is right shifty looking and hangs about like a bad smell Grin

I think after the programme has aired is fair game I am one of them that has no interest in GOT but i love cryptic statuses friends post inviting chat abput it but giving away no spoilers !

ememem84 · 02/05/2019 16:02

Our rule at work is that if you haven’t watched it by the time you get into work on Tuesday morning it’s fair game to talk about.

The boss watches it on a Monday morning. Then tries to spoiler it.

But Tuesday morning if fine to discuss.

And OMG. The night king.
Am I alone in thinking he’s a hottie? That may be my pregnancy hormones talking. But I would.

If people aren't watching something broadcast for the first time at 2am on a Monday morning, they aren't interested?

The people I'm referring to are asking everyone to keep quiet about it for 6 weeks so they can binge it, and aren't staying off social media at all.

eme I can maybe see a slight appeal if I look really hard. If I was a white walker, I'd probably be all over him.
But as a living person he doesn't do it for me. I think it's his crown head. And he's blue.

I must be the only person who likes spoilers can’t bear not knowing what’s going on. Not that I watch game of thrones. I always read the last couple of pages of a book first.
If some one was to tell me anything about a tv show I was watching I really wouldn’t mind.

itswinetime · 02/05/2019 16:28

Lllot5 I am exactly the same!

havingtochangeusernameagain · 02/05/2019 16:35

My view is that once it has been on terrestrial TV it's fair game.

The Masterchef or Strictly winner will be in the newspaper the next day.

If you don't watch it when it's aired, you have to accept there may be spoilers. And if it is based on a book there will be even more spoilers (eg Poldark).

No need to put spoilers in titles though, and it's kind to say there are spoilers in your title, so that people can avoid clicking into your post if they don't want to know something.

ForalltheSaints · 02/05/2019 16:37

Allow a day, so people can watch it on catch up the following evening.

Unless it is something that is complete rubbish such as a Simon Cowell 'talent' show in which case silence about it is probably best.

ememem84 · 02/05/2019 17:15

sliced must be the preggo talking then! Haha.

That said I’ve always had a thing for captain jack sparrow. Not Johnny depp per se. But captain jack.

Slicedpineapple · 02/05/2019 18:12

eme now that one is reasonable. Johnny Depp does nothing for me, but Captain Jack..
