to think that Ross Geller is the biggest prick in TV history?

I've been watching Friends in the background every morning for the last few months, right from the first episode.
I last watched it as a teenager and I'm really shocked at how the characters come across now I'm an adult.

But the worst by far is Ross!
And he's meant to be the one we root for, a "good guy" and he is SUCH a wanker.

I'm on the episode in Season 9 with the male Nanny, and he accuses the guy of being gay. Repeatedly. At interview!
He has an extreme God complex, he treats women like shit, he is the very definition of a man-child. He dated a student, and messed around with her in his office.
He doesn't even love Rachel for who she is, but instead seems to think he simply possesses her because he's been obsessed with her since they were children.

I just cannot get over how badly he comes across, yet its never acknowledged in the programme how much of an utter shit he is.

I realise its just a TV show but I'm flabbergasted as to how anyone could be expected to like such a vile character.

Dropped Monica in it with Chandler about Monica having lunch with Richard

Slept with Monica’s ex a few hours after they broke up

Lied to Rachel about never being Maid of Honour so she could be Monica’s

Hijacked Monica and Chandler’s first anniversary because she was jealous about not going to London

Bullied Rachel into getting a tattoo and then chickened out of getting it done herself

The monkey!!! Just been watching Marcel's goodbye episode with DD, and the fact he basically had an illegal wild animal as a pet, who he only gave up because it was humping his leg???? I mean what a douche. People who create demand for the trade in trafficking wildlife are wankers. And yet I've never seen that included on a list of Ross' faults.

And Rachel’s scratchy cat! She rehomed it with Gunther who didn’t even know what it was!

The thing which annoys me most about friends is the horrendous editing!!!!
I've just watched one where Rachel is clearly putting her coat on then next shot it's over her arms.
Another time is when Monica is opening her wedding presents. On one shot the big box is wrapped, the next it's not, the enxt it is etc. It infuriates me for such a mega rich programme!!!

Phoebe was really horrible after a while. When Rachel and Ross were ON A BREAK she told Rachel there was fault on both sides! Despite the fact that they broke up because a) Ross behaved like a controlling freak and embarrassed Rachel at work repeatedly because he incorrectly thought she fancied a colleague and b) he slept with the copyshop girl! What exactly did Rachel do that caused fault to be on her side?
