GiantKitten I'm very lucky in that my health is reasonably good. I try hard to keep it that way as long as I can by taking care of myself both physically and mentally; yes, I realise a lot of that is beyond my power but you do what you can.
To me it's vitally important to keep my sense of humour and always keep an interest in what's going on around me - don't mean what the neighbours are doing - keeping an interest in life, in current affairs, reading a lot and always being willing to keep on learning. But I think those things apply whatever age someone is.
Turning 70 was a bit odd tbh because it sounds so old; but I'm not old iyswim.
Getting old and the possibility of ill health does loom over me in a way it didn't when I was younger, obviously. But I get up each morning, have my shower, put on my make up and see what the day brings. As long as I can keep on doing that being 70 is okay.
One big advantage is that I don't have to get up every morning at 6.15 as I did when I was working; fortunately, my dog is not an early riser, and I do enjoy being retired.
Oh and never resorting to watching day time television.
