How old are you?

I always assume everyone is older than me on here but that's almost certainly not the case.

So, how old are you?

I'm 33.

  1. Quite looking forward to 30 - love the lack of fucks to give that comes with age. Wasted my 20s worrying. Of course I have traded confidence and happiness for random back pains and unshiftable love handles but oh well
TrickyD · 02/05/2019 13:43

GiantKitten, I wasn't really bothered by hitting 70. DH, who is seven years younger than me (we have been married for 47 years) organised a great party for family and friends with a marquee and caterers in DS2's garden. If you are reasonably healthy, have a decent income and a very affectionate family the 70s are great. Now 80 is looming, but the main thing is to keep breathing!

elQuintoConyo · 02/05/2019 13:43

I'm actually soooooooooooo far away from 23 Grin

It has been known for arseholes to trawl through a poster's history to find out who they are. I don't want anyone figuring out who I am, ergo I'm fuzzy on details online and change things a fair bit.

So, I'll give you: older than 23, younger than 50 Grin

drigon · 02/05/2019 13:57

51, quite surprised at the large amount of over 45s here! I always assumed it was mostly 25 to 40ish people on here. Great that there is such a wide range of ages.

Neverender · 02/05/2019 14:00

37

CustardySergeant · 02/05/2019 14:07

I'm 65 and petrified of my husband dying before I do (he's 8 years older, so it's likely) and also of dementia.

booksandcaffeine · 02/05/2019 14:10

I'm old enough. Still get id'd for energy drinks though 🙄

Puzzledandpissedoff · 02/05/2019 14:11

63 yesterday

SilverySurfer · 02/05/2019 14:14

I'm in my 70s but my body feels more like 150.

Xanadu58 · 02/05/2019 14:15

MummyStruggles · 02/05/2019 14:16

SauvingnonBlanketyBlanc I'm not much younger than you, at 34 and by the sounds of your name on here, I think we'd have a lot in common Grin

Been here since about 2010 from being a 40 year old new mum, a lone parent, through a domestic violence relationship, and now getting married for the first time.

maddieharrison · 02/05/2019 14:26

Happy birthday for yesterday, @puzzledandpissedoff 💐

I'll be 63 too, in a couple of months

pigsDOfly · 02/05/2019 14:45

GiantKitten I'm very lucky in that my health is reasonably good. I try hard to keep it that way as long as I can by taking care of myself both physically and mentally; yes, I realise a lot of that is beyond my power but you do what you can.

To me it's vitally important to keep my sense of humour and always keep an interest in what's going on around me - don't mean what the neighbours are doing - keeping an interest in life, in current affairs, reading a lot and always being willing to keep on learning. But I think those things apply whatever age someone is.

Turning 70 was a bit odd tbh because it sounds so old; but I'm not old iyswim.

Getting old and the possibility of ill health does loom over me in a way it didn't when I was younger, obviously. But I get up each morning, have my shower, put on my make up and see what the day brings. As long as I can keep on doing that being 70 is okay.

One big advantage is that I don't have to get up every morning at 6.15 as I did when I was working; fortunately, my dog is not an early riser, and I do enjoy being retired.

Oh and never resorting to watching day time television.

saturdaynightgin · 02/05/2019 14:47

I’m turning 29 tomorrow

64 in August and still no fucking pension!

THEsonofaBITCH · 02/05/2019 15:08

80 still, but then I've been told I was 80 since I was 7! Grin

IntoValhalla · 02/05/2019 15:12

But often get told I look younger and act older!

Thetreeonthehill · 02/05/2019 15:14

LakieLady I got my pension letter last year. Will be 67 when I get it. 9 years to go 😱.
