To ask you to help me remember this cartoon from the early 2000's?

I know this is not a proper use of AIBU but I need to know!

The cartoon was an American one...it was based around the life of a little girl who lived in an apartment with her Mum. They were a lone parent family...they were both black.

The little girl had a friend who was a boy...it was quite a sort of moral cartoon I think. Not particularly silly...kind of like Curious George in style if I remember rightly.

Any ideas?

Doc Mcstuffins?

Twernip · 02/05/2019 11:24

Not Doc Mcstuffins, by any chance?

HennyPennyHorror · 02/05/2019 11:26

No not The Proud Family. It was literally a lone Mother and one child in the family.

Are you sure she didn't have a dad? There is a show called proud that centers on an African American family, but as far as I can tell, it wasn't a single parent family.

FindaPenny · 02/05/2019 11:26

Ignore that... Cross post

What happened in the cartoon?
We're there adventures?
Did she go to school?
Did she pause randomly to speak to the camera and wait for you to respond?

HennyPennyHorror · 02/05/2019 11:27

Oh God not Doc McStuffins! Grin It's was quite a serious cartoon in a way. More in common with Hey Arnold than Doc McStuffins. Aimed at an older audience than DocMcStuffins.

Monkey It was little domestic and school based incidents as far as I can remember. Quite gentle...she'd learn a lesson about "being a friend" or "Being honest" or something.

I think I remember something. Did the girl have a raspy type voice?

sallyanny · 02/05/2019 11:30

Was it Corduroy?

Dumdedumdedum · 02/05/2019 11:32

Corduroy was lovely, but wouldn't the OP remember it was about the adventures of a teddy-bear?!

HennyPennyHorror · 02/05/2019 11:32

SALLYANNY OH MY GOD! You got it! YES! THANK YOU THANK YOU!

I was wrong about it not having a creature in it though wasn't I?

You were all amazing! Thanks! It's like having an itch scratched!!

Dum I forgot the bear entirely! I just remembered the child and her home situation because it was unusual...there weren't many cartoons about a lone parent family and especially a black family. It was a lovely cartoon and now I can tell DD!
