To try a menstrual cup?

I’m considering giving a menstrual cup a try - I’ve moved to using period pants/reusable pads, and the cups look really comfortable and more efficient than washing reusables. Has anyone got any experience of using them? And which one - there’s about a hundred to choose from!

I don't know Lunette or Saalt personally. There's some prelimary information to take into account when choosing a brand, such as whether you're allergic to any materials.

Apart from that, although I'm by no means an expert, it seems to me like there's three main factors to take into account:
a) capacity - basically depends on how heavy your period is. If it doubt, go slightly over what you think you need as it doesn't matter if you don't fill a cup, but it does matter if it's not large enough and you have to empty it very frequently.

b) firmness - some are 'firmer' than others. If you do sport regularly, for example, it will recommend a firmer cup to make sure it stays in place. I don't know why people would choose a less firm cup - presumably it is more comfortable? Perhaps easier to manoeuvre?

c) size - slightly different from capacity as width and length can vary. Size seems to depend more on what you need to keep it in place rather than how heavy your flow is - so basically how tight your vaginal muscles are. Clearly the quizzes don't directly ask this, they are relying on factors like whether you've given birth vaginally and your age to make a recommendation.

I recently bought an organicup... tried it last month and could feel it the whole time. Felt horrible! So I ordered the smaller size. AF due in a day or so... won’t lie, I’m nervous! I’ve got long acrylic nails too, so getting it out last time was quite challenging!! Blush

If you can feel it the whole time it might be that it's sitting too low rather than size. You need to make sure the whole cup is comfortably inside you, then it can settle into place itself (sometimes slightly higher than you put it, but it won't disappear up there Grin ).

Completely converted, been using for over a year and I LOVE IT! it's so easy and comfortable you don't have to worry about it at all. When I first started using it I tried it when I was having a day at home as I didn't trust it, the went a few months before wearing to work but it has never ever leaked and now I put it in the morning and forget about it!

Sorry I meant to say I don't even think about having to put it in.
