To think house prices will drop sooner rather than later?

Especially in Southern cities like London or Cambridge where house prices are ludicrous. AIBU to think that house prices are going to have to start dropping in a few years time, when those who missed out on house price jumps start moving to smaller houses for retirement and there'll be a glut of bigger houses for sale?

I'm not sure people want the prices to crash and there be a huge recession and all the chaos that brings. I certainly don't but I do wish looking with rose tinted spectacles that we could return to a time where buying a modest family home was affordable.

In an supposedly affluent country like the U.K. its seems such a damn shame that people can't find a simple home to settle in and live without the constant fear of the rent being raised, being kicked out or being told they can't have a cat. 🤷🏻‍♀️
