As title states how much do you have in savings? I'm trying to build my saving back up again pretty much wiped out atm as some large Bill's and expenses have taken that. So basically I'm starting from scratch.ive head as a buffer 3 month wages is the general rule of thumb. My tips would be have a jingle jar a jar that has just copper and silver change it tends to add up quick and can save you if you need bread or milk or if you save enough you can count and sort and take to the bank.
Also dont buy prepackaged precut food such as fruit or veg I know its easier and more convenient but the price does shoot up. Take your own bags to the supermarket the amount of times I've had to pay for carrier bags I now leave bags in the car and the difference is little but helps.downgrade on products the cheap 20p spaghetti tastes exactly the same as branded.

Don’t get sucked into the pamper yourself shite , you’ll look the same and just have less money .
Likewise for expensive creams , potions and makeup . ( I’m sure there are exceptions but they’re rare )

Tans in winter are unnatural and weird fingernails even more so . Save your money 🤪

Save your money for things that make you truly happy . Music lessons and days out / experiences for your children , an occasional holiday ( doesn’t have to be every year).
Some beautiful pieces of furniture.
Some art for your home .

We treat our mortgage like a savings account - no penalties (with ours), it saves on interest over the years and we can take a payment holiday if needed once we've saved enough. No temptation to dip into it once it's gone! We also have a Dave Ramsey emergency fund for things like an appliance breaking and plan to start saving 3 months expenses once we've paid off debt.

Wineismycarb
First direct do a slingshot...its were they round your money down and deposit into another account.

Not sure of otger banks that do it

Try not to let your outgoings increase along with your income. People get a pay rise or promotion and it's very easy to think of things to spend that extra money on but if you were happy with your foundation/shampoo/shopping at aldi/camping holiday before you had the extra money then you really don't need to "go up a brand".

Wineismycarb Lloyds do an Easy Saver account where they deposit the rounded up pence from transactions on your current account. So spend £3.85 at the shops and 15p gets transferred to the Easy Saver account. I manage to save about £12/month doing this so around £145 for Christmas without noticing it.

I skim my bank account at the end of each day and transfer it to my Monzo account into little savings pots. It's amazing how quickly it adds up.

I also started waxing my own eyebrows which saves me £4 every 2 weeks. (Got a wax kit for £10 on offer and have already made my money back and more).

I no longer have my nails done which saves me about £30 a month.

Looking forward to reading some tips.

A quarter of my salary goes into savings account on payday. I just live as if I had a lower salary. I'm trying tho start the habit of putting anything leftover at the end of the month into savings but keep forgetting. This thread masse me think to put an alarm on my phone to remind me!
