People who say “oats” instead of porridge
People who say “house-coat” instead of dressing gown
People who say “Kellogg’s” instead of cornflakes
People who say “pikelets” instead of crumpets.

What makes you want to blow snot at people?

Well, aren’t you lovely sniping at the way others speak?
Blowing snot means heartbroken crying where I am (USA) so there’s that, no idea what you mean by it x either way, it’s gross.
Oats? Do you mean oatmeal? Again, where I am that’s what they call porridge, never heard it called just oats anywhere.
Never heard Kellogg’s for cornflakes, generally, people say cereal to mean cornflakes or other breakfast products.
A pikelet and a crumpet are two similar but different things but pikelet is often used for both in the North of the UK so it’s a regional thing.
Housecoat again is a regional thing, a term I heard a lot growing up but not used so much these days.

People who sat blow snot Confused

Well some of your examples are incorrect/ for example picklets are different to crumpets. A house coat is often different to a dressing gown I,e in length,

I can actually give you so many examples where a word can change the sentence completely for someone, as I used to train it to people who worked with individuals with learning disabilities. If they had been placed far from home, a simple conversation could become confusing. But it’s a regional and country difference. I’m welsh so I give a cwtch. To many people that’s a little hiddie hole to sit down. As long as it’s not offensive, what’s the big deal?

Blow snot? Hmm

Also "sets my teeth on edge"? What is that?

boredboredboredboredbored · 30/04/2019 14:44

I was told to "grow a pair" once by my manager. This was said as I was nearly in tears with the stress of my job the day before (nurse, horrific shift).

Grow a pair was the worst thing she could have said not only is it highly insulted but extremely patronising.

She also said I needed to "chill my beans" I swear to god I most definitely would have emptied a lifetime snot on her head at that moment.

People who say 'blow snot'🤮

Oats are to porridge what flour is to bread, they're not the same thing. If someone told me they'd had oats for breakfast I'd assume they meant overnight oats.

A house coat is a slightly different thing to a dressing grown, and although before this thread I didn't really know what one was it seems a pikelet is a slightly different thing to a crumpet too.

Never heard anyone say Kellogg's for cornflakes, I didn't know it was a thing.

My dog clears her nose by blowing snot on me sometimes, it's not pleasant.

Eww "blow snot?" Sounds like something gross small children would do at eachother. I'm sorry but I find your turn of phrase more offensive than any of the terms listed!
