to be annoyed at eBay seller?

Ordered something that I needed by today. Ebay seller stated 1-2 days delivery by 1st class post. I ordered it on Thursday last week. I contacted them for tracking details and turns out they use 2nd class and item will be here tomorrow or Wednesday.

AIBU to be irked by this? Is there a way to report this on eBay or am I fighting a losing battle on such a huge website?

More fool me I know :( thought I had enough time.

Tell them to refund and you will return it.

Should have been posted Fri or Sat so arrived latest today. YANBU

I think if they have stated first class (&charged you for it!) and then sent second you would have grounds for a dispute. I have raised problems with eBay before and been surprised at the speed of the response. Message them first and ask for partial refund- assuming you want to keep the item?

To be fair it was free postage, but still advertised as first class 1-2 days, when actually it's second class 4-5 days. Not impressed! Not much I can do though other than have a moan!

If you’ve paid for 1st class post and they’ve sent it 2nd you would be entitled to a postage refund minimum.
If they’re a half decent seller they should be offering more as a gesture of goodwill.
It’s hard to know if it’s a bad seller, or just a mishap or miscommunication.
Report the, via eBay. Item not received and negotiate with them.

It's not really free postage though. You paid a sum for the item on the basis that it would be sent by first-class post and arrive by the time you needed it. If the listing had said second-class post you may well not have bought it. In other words the delivery method was part of the description of what you were paying for, and it hasn't been honoured.

When you bid on the item it should have had a delivery date which will have been realistic based on how quickly the seller said they would be able to despatch after sale and the postal service offered. Doesn't matter if you paid extra for postage or not if it stated First Class it is breaking the rules for a seller not to send by First Class. Log a complaint, you will be able to return the item for a full refund and the seller will have to pay the return postage. Even if' it's a bit of a hassle for you it's worth doing as ebay track these kinds of things and the seller will learn not to do that again.
