It’s the first time I’ve done it, bought this house from my landlord it was quite easy. But selling and moving is a whole different nightmare

Sold our house subject to contract last week, found a house we love, offered full asking, offer accepted

The next day we get turned down for our new mortgage due to a mistake nationwide (our present mortgage provider made). they have us down as having a late mortgage payment a few months ago. After several conversations they have now admitted fault but we still don’t know when it will be removed from Experian) . Waiting on a call back today

Meanwhile our estate agents / buyers are, naturally, in a hurry to start proceedings, as are the vendors of the house we want, but we haven’t even got a damn mortgage in place yet 🤦‍♀️

We’re desperate for the move to go ahead our area is a shit hole for so many reasons.

We’re just in limbo atm both stressed and snapping at each other and I can’t even sleep at night 😩. Honestly not even sure what the point of this thread is and I know it’s really first world problems of me 🤦‍♀️

Use a mortgage broker. They'll be able to advise on best rates, speed of service, lending criteria etc. Use an independent one rather than one attached to an estate agent. There will be a fee but it's worth the money.

SapphireBattersea · 29/04/2019 16:05

We are using a mortgage broker already.

Get them on the case. They will have better channels of communication with the mortgage company than you. That's where they earn their fee

She says There is not a lot she can do until Nationwide come back to us (and the fuckers still haven't) as hopefully they will put something in writing to say it was a mistake on their part. So annoying as we both had absolutely a1 credit till this happened

I am probably being impatient … I know I need to chill out about it all

I moved in November and we're currently still going through the stresses of two mortgage applications even now and I'm sick of it.

I had to make a point of saying to my partner that we will talk about it (progress/delays/requirements etc) for a limited time each evening when we get in from work but then the conversation about it was over for the evening. It was all we ever talked and stressed about otherwise. That definitely helped otherwise it's all consuming!

SapphireBattersea · 29/04/2019 18:31

This is honestly me and DH right now

It is all consuming :(

I hope yours gets sorted asap @jiskoot ...if you don't mind me asking, why has it taken so long?

We had to get a bridging loan back in August as my partners house wasn't (and still isn't) selling. Never again. We're now remortgaging the new house and doing a BTL on his house to pay it off. Couldn't do it until we had been here six months, both have now proceeded to offer but still awaiting completion. Tis fun. Best of luck with yours, hope you get some (good) news soon!

I think the key is not to worry about the things you have no control over and to do what you can to keep things moving along when you do have some influence. Keep the EAs informed as to where you are up to.

Famalamaringwrong · 29/04/2019 20:15

You sold your house last week and then the next day got turned down for the mortgage due to an internal mistake they'll fix. But it's now only MONDAY. Chill out it will get sorted fine.

Email Nationwide’s CEO office with a complaint. Make sure the email title says “complaint”.

It will be rectified by the end of the week, I speak from (bitter) experience.
